Job Description
The Accountant will lead core operational accounting activities, including month-end close, reconciliations, and financial reporting for multiple entities in a dynamic, growing organization within a fun and evolving industry. This role manages key accounting processes such as bank and balance sheet reconciliations, fixed assets and depreciation, lease accounting, and liability tracking, while also supporting internal reporting, analysis, and transactional work as needed. The position is ideal for a hands-on accounting professional who enjoys working with detailed financial data, collaborating with a small, supportive team, and contributing to scalable processes as the company continues to expand.
Responsibilities
Perform month-end close activities, including preparing and reviewing balance sheet reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness.
Manage and reconcile bank accounts and cash activity across multiple entities to maintain up-to-date and accurate cash records.
Maintain and track fixed assets and depreciation schedules in accordance with accounting policies and standards.
Support lease accounting processes, including preparation and maintenance of related schedules and documentation.
Track and reconcile liabilities, including items such as gift cards, to ensure proper recording and timely resolution of discrepancies.
Work with daily transaction data from point-of-sale (POS) systems to ensure accurate recording of revenue and related transactions.
Assist with accounting for multiple entities, currently nine entities, ensuring consistent application of accounting policies and accurate consolidation where needed.
Support internal reporting by preparing reports, schedules, and analyses for leadership and other stakeholders.
Contribute to ad hoc financial and operational analysis, including variance analysis, to help explain results and support decision-making.
Help ensure timely and accurate financial reporting as the company continues to scale and expand its operations.
Support transactional accounting work as needed, including processing invoices, performing reviews, and assisting with cleanup projects.
Collaborate with team members to improve accounting processes, controls, and documentation as the organization grows.
Travel periodically to other locations, including sites such as St. Cloud, with mileage reimbursement provided for required travel.
Essential Skills
At least 3 years of operational accounting experience, including hands-on work with general ledger activities.
At least 3 years of experience working in an ERP system for accounting and financial processes.
Proficiency in performing general ledger accounting, including journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end close tasks.
Strong experience with balance sheet reconciliations and account analysis.
Ability to manage and reconcile bank accounts and cash activity accurately and efficiently.
Experience maintaining and tracking fixed assets and depreciation.
Familiarity with lease accounting concepts and related schedules.
Ability to work with large volumes of transaction data from POS systems and ensure accurate recording.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy in all accounting tasks.
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple entities and responsibilities in a fast-growing environment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience supporting internal reporting and preparing ad hoc financial analyses.
Variance analysis experience, including investigating and explaining differences between actual results and expectations.
Comfort working in a small, collaborative team with close interaction with leadership.
Ability to adapt to evolving processes and contribute to building scalable accounting practices as the company grows.
Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to assist with transactional work and cleanup projects when needed.
Self-motivated, accountable work style focused on completing tasks accurately and on time rather than strictly adhering to set hours.
Work Environment
The Accountant will work on-site at a golf course facility in Prior Lake, with a dedicated office space located within the clubhouse. The environment offers a unique combination of professional office work and access to a vibrant, hospitality-focused setting. The role is part of a small, close-knit accounting team supported by engaged leadership, with a culture that emphasizes flexibility, trust, and results over rigid schedules. Once fully trained, the position may offer flexibility, including the potential for at least one day of remote work per week, based on business needs. The organization manages multiple golf courses across several states, and occasional travel, including to locations such as St. Cloud, is required, with mileage reimbursement provided. This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Prior Lake, MN.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $39.00 - $53.00/hr.
