Summary You will serve as a INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY SPECIALIST (SYSADMIN) in the COMMAND, CONTROL, COMMUNICATIONS AND INTELLIGENCE DIRECTORATE of PAC FLEET SUB FORCE OPS COMPONENT. Responsibilities You will provide guidance and advice on the administration of security and handling of CMS material including operational/technical managerial guidance of all COMSEC material and equipment for ships of these squadrons. You will Provide recommendations on written staff and force level instructions concerning force and command level distribution and control procedures for COMSEC distributed material, to include handling and storage. You will ensure that all actions pertaining to classified COMSEC material charged to the facility COMSEC account (such as material receipts, inventory, transfer, etc.) are completed. You will operate and maintain secure voice, data, and message processing equipment to include cryptographic devices classified systems (such as KIV-7, KG- 84, KG-175 TACLANES, SKL, or other common fill devices and Legacy). You will complete computer and security system administration functions as a MGC and Key Processor (KP) CPA, responsible for Database Management, Operator and KP Privileges. You will execute database back-ups, computer system diagnostics, database optimization, system file management, and system accreditation. You will analyze equipment and perform software upgrades such as AN/PYQ-10 Simple Key Loaders (SKL) upgrades. You will diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve hardware/software and other system issues. You will support and install Information Assurance Vulnerability Alert (IAVA) security measures to protect the system network, software, and hardware. You will coordinate and inspect training of personnel in the use and protection of COMSEC software/hardware. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications GS-12: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the (GS-11) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: managing secure communications and IT infrastructure by interpreting communications security instructions and regulations in order to effectively manage secure communications and serving as a system administrator (e.g. maintaining full accountability for materials and equipment, providing technical guidance, and/or diagnosing/resolving hardware and software issues) to support program objectives. Your experience must also reflect skill in the following areas: 1. Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency includes: Ensuring strict accountability, inventory, transfer, and safeguarding of highly sensitive IT equipment and secure materials. Executing precision system administration functions, including database management, optimization, and continuous compliance with mandatory network security patches and updates. 2. Representing the organization in high-level engagements with external agencies and delivering expert recommendations that significantly influence enterprise IT policies and procedures. 4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency includes: Investigating reports of suspected security compromises, system failures, or data loss to determine operational impacts and vulnerability trends. Diagnosing complex hardware, software, and connectivity issues across secure systems, and engineering standard operating procedures to mitigate future risks.
