Livestock Specialist

POSITION SUMMARY

The Livestock Specialist will be responsible for closely tending to livestock such as bovine, swine, deer, horses and other equine. Herd livestock to pastures for grazing or to scales, trucks, or other enclosures as needed. Drive trucks, tractors, and other farm equipment to distribute feed to all animals. Responsible for inspecting, maintaining, and repairing pens, yards, and fences. Clean stalls, pens, and equipment, using environmentally friendly disinfectant solutions, brushes, shovels, water hoses, and pumps. Ensure feed is mixed with appropriate medicines in prescribed portions for each breed as specified by our Animal Scientists. Responsible for maintaining record of livestock growth, feeding schedules, and cost records.

RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES

Work closely with livestock including cattle, pigs, horses, deer, etc.

Cleaning and maintaining pens, fences, barns, etc.

Work with various @types of farm equipment.

EDUCATION / QUALIFICATIONS

High School Diploma / GED.

24 months of employment experience as a Reproductive Technician which must include working with large mammals such as bovine and equine. This includes knowledge of their interdependencies and interactions with each other and the environment.

Demonstrated experience working outside a climate-controlled environment.

Position requires performing significant physical activities that require considerable use of arms, legs, and moving the whole body for climbing, lifting, walking, and stooping. Must possess ability to lift minimum of 45 pounds.
