Deputy Clerk

Job Responsibilities:

Duties include but are not limited to: maintaining the courts case information in a computer database and

assists the public with case information. Performs routine clerical tasks to assist with the operation of the office.

Must assist attorneys and other professionals in the office. Schedules hearing dates and reschedules as

necessary. Enters case dispositions in computer. Notifies attorneys of hearings. Issues subpoenas and Warrants.

Prepares and @types a variety of legal forms and documentation. Answers the telephone, responds to questions,

directs calls and takes messages. Opens and processes mail. Photocopies materials. Maintains office files.

Assists persons who appear for court hearings. Receives payments, issues receipts. Maintains and increases

knowledge and skills through attendance at meetings, conferences, training seminars and in-service training

sessions. Performs additional duties and assignments as requested.

Minimum Qualifications:

High school graduate or equivalent. Two (2) years general office experience. Excellent typing skills, computer

literate, self-starter, works well with others, follow through with supervisors' recommendations, good

communication skills/people skills, detail oriented and pleasant telephone skills. Must be able to meet bonding

requirements. An individual who poses a direct threat to the health and safety of himself/herself or others in the

work place will be deemed not qualified for the position. Must possess a valid Ohio driver's license with an

acceptable driving record. Must be able to comply with the Ashtabula County Drug Free Workplace Policy.
