Position Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Industrial Manufacturing Engineer to support the design, optimization, and continuous improvement of manufacturing processes for hydraulic cylinder production. This role will work closely with production, quality, and design teams to improve efficiency, ensure product quality, and drive cost-effective manufacturing solutions.
The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for leading and coordinating all manufacturing/process engineering activities at the site, supporting hydraulic cylinder manufacturing operations. This role serves as the primary site-level manufacturing engineering leader, providing technical direction, execution oversight, and day-to-day leadership for team members that support process development. The role ensures site execution aligns with enterprise manufacturing engineering standards, strategies, and priorities established by the Director of Manufacturing Engineering.
Essential Duties and Site Responsibilities:
Serve as the site manufacturing engineer, coordinating all manufacturing/process engineering activities at the plant.
Provide day-to-day leadership and technical direction to manufacturing engineers and plant functional engineering team members.
Lead manufacturing process design, optimization, and standardization for welding, machining, assembly, testing, and painting operations.
Support New Product Introduction activities by ensuring manufacturing readiness, validation, and launch execution.
Lead productivity, efficiency, and flow improvements through lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.
Manages the site capital expenditure priority list.
Support deployment of approved automation, robotics, and advanced manufacturing solutions.
Ensure accuracy and governance of engineering data including BOMs, routings, cycle times, tooling, and consumables.
Ensure manufacturing processes comply with ISO 9001 requirements and support internal and external audits.
Lead or support root cause analysis and corrective actions for manufacturing and process-related issues.
Monitor, track, and report site KPIs related to safety, quality, delivery, efficiency, and cost.
Collaborate closely with Production, Quality, Maintenance, Supply Chain, and Design Engineering teams.
Facilitate transfer and adoption of best practices and manufacturing standards from other global facilities.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Assign engineering priorities, manage workloads, and ensure timely execution of engineering activities supporting production and NPD.
Coordinates and oversee methods, motion, and time studies to improve labor and equipment utilization and drive cost savings.
Support training of production personnel on new processes, equipment, and standard work.
Oversee development and maintenance of SOPs, work instructions, and manufacturing documentation.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop, implement, and optimize manufacturing processes for hydraulic cylinder components and assemblies.
Create and maintain work instructions, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and process documentation.
Support machining, welding, and assembly operations (CNC, honing, robotic/manual welding).
Lead continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective/preventive actions (CAPA).
Collaborate with design engineering on new product introduction (NPI) and manufacturability.
Analyze production data to improve throughput, reduce waste, and optimize cycle times.
Ensure compliance with quality standards (e.g., ISO 9001).
Assist in tooling design, equipment selection, and process validation.
Support project planning, timelines, and cross-functional coordination.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or Industrial Engineering.
7-12 years of experience in an industrial manufacturing environment.
Minimum 5+ years of experience in manufacturing or process engineering roles.
Prior experience leading or coordinating manufacturing or process engineering teams.
Automotive or hydraulic manufacturing experience preferred.
Strong leadership, coordination, and communication skills.
Manufacturing process design for welding, machining, assembly, testing, and painting.
Hydraulic systems knowledge, preferably hydraulic cylinders.
Hands-on CNC machining operations and programming support.
Methods, motion, and time study techniques.
Value Stream Mapping (VSM) and lean manufacturing.
Engineering data management (BOMs, routings, cycle times, consumables).
Plant layout, workflow optimization, and material handling design
Automation, robotics, and advanced manufacturing technology integration
ISO 9001 documentation and compliance
SOP and work instruction development
Root cause analysis and corrective action execution
KPI monitoring and performance improvement
AutoCAD and MS Office proficiency
Strong understanding of manufacturing process development and optimization.
Proficiency with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD).
Knowledge of GD&T and engineering drawings.
Experience with root cause analysis and problem-solving methodologies.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in hydraulic systems or hydraulic cylinder manufacturing.
Certified Manufacturing Engineer (CMfgE).
Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt.
Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
Experience with ERP/MRP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle).
Familiarity with pressure testing, sealing systems, and fluid power components.

Work Environment:
Manufacturing plant setting with regular exposure to shop floor conditions.
Requires use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) including safety glasses or glasses with side shields, and steel toe shoes when on the facility floor.
Frequent interaction with production teams and equipment.
