Job Description**
The Industrial Electrician supports a high-volume distribution center by maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical, mechanical, and plumbing systems. This role focuses on keeping conveyors, packaging equipment, and related automation running safely and efficiently by using strong PLC troubleshooting skills, interpreting electrical schematics, and performing both mechanical and electrical repairs. The position requires a solid technical experience in industrial electrical systems, practical hands-on experience, and the ability to work independently under time pressure on a third-shift schedule.
Responsibilities
Troubleshoot, repair, and test mechanical equipment commonly used in distribution centers, including conveyors, diverters, and packaging equipment.
Diagnose and resolve electrical issues using electrical schematics, blueprints, logic diagrams, and wiring diagrams.
Perform strong PLC troubleshooting, including reading ladder logic and checking inputs and outputs on systems such as Siemens and Allen-Bradley programmable controllers.
Work with control cabinets to identify faults, replace components, and restore proper system operation.
Use electrical and electronic test equipment, such as multimeters and oscilloscopes, to analyze and correct equipment malfunctions.
Perform electrical welding and apply basic mechanical knowledge to troubleshoot systems controlled by electrical devices.
Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance on high-voltage and low-voltage electrical systems, as well as mechanical components.
Execute plumbing operations and use pipe fitting tools to install, maintain, and repair facility plumbing systems.
Apply knowledge of the National Electrical Code (N.E.C.), OSHA guidelines, and other governing agency requirements to ensure safe and compliant maintenance practices.
Make accurate and timely repairs under pressure to minimize equipment downtime and maintain operational continuity.
Lift and move equipment and materials, including frequent lifting of items up to 80 pounds, as needed for maintenance tasks.
Complete and maintain certification in a powered vehicle training program and safely operate powered industrial vehicles as required.
Collaborate with operations and other maintenance team members to prioritize work based on business needs and equipment criticality.
Work flexible hours within the third-shift schedule to support business demands and respond to urgent maintenance needs.
Essential Skills
High School Diploma or GED.
Graduate of a vocational or technical school in an electrical or electronic craft with at least two years of electrical experience in an industrial environment, OR post-secondary education in an electronic or electrical craft with four or more years of electrical experience in an industrial environment.
Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, logic diagrams, and wiring diagrams.
Strong PLC troubleshooting skills, including reading ladder logic and checking inputs and outputs.
Hands-on experience with conveyors, diverters, and packaging equipment in an industrial or distribution environment.
Proficiency in plumbing operations and use of pipe fitting tools.
Ability to perform electrical welding and basic mechanical troubleshooting on systems controlled by electrical devices.
Knowledge of the National Electrical Code (N.E.C.), OSHA guidelines, and relevant operational requirements set by governing agencies.
Experience using electrical and electronic test equipment such as multimeters and oscilloscopes.
Capability to work safely with high-voltage equipment.
Physical ability to frequently lift up to 80 pounds.
Willingness and ability to work flexible hours on a third-shift schedule (overnight).
Ability to successfully complete and maintain certification in a powered vehicle training program every two years.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Two-year technical degree in an electrical, electronic, or related field plus two years of on-the-job industrial electrical experience, or four or more years of on-the-job industrial electrical experience in lieu of the degree.
Experience with Siemens PLCs and Allen-Bradley PLCs.
Experience in conveyor maintenance, including mechanical and electrical components.
Familiarity with ladder logic programming concepts for troubleshooting control systems.
Experience working with control cabinets and industrial control systems.
Knowledge of pneumatics and hydraulics in an industrial maintenance setting.
Comfort working independently on third shift with minimal supervision while supporting a fast-paced distribution operation.

Work Environment
This role is based in a clean distribution center environment on a third-shift schedule, working Sunday through Thursday from 9:30 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. The position offers a consistent 40-hour workweek throughout the year. You will work around automated material handling systems such as conveyors, diverters, and packaging equipment, and will regularly use tools and technologies including multimeters, oscilloscopes, welding equipment, PLC interfaces, and control cabinets. The work involves both electrical and mechanical tasks, including high-voltage systems, plumbing, pneumatics, and hydraulics. The role is physically demanding, with frequent lifting of up to 80 pounds and work in and around operating equipment, requiring adherence to safety procedures and appropriate work attire suitable for an industrial distribution environment.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $34.00 - $34.00/hr.
