Position Summary
The Acoustic Test Engineer develops and executes advanced acoustic test strategies to solve complex engineering challenges and validate system performance. This role drives technical rigor across test planning, execution, analysis, and continuous improvement while influencing engineering decisions through data-driven recommendations.
Working cross-functionally, the engineer ensures acoustic testing activities are delivered on time, on quality, and on budget, contributing directly to successful program outcomes and operational readiness.
Job Description
Key Responsibilities
Mission Execution & Technical Ownership
Design, plan, and execute acoustic test programs supporting product development, validation, and qualification activities.
Develop innovative solutions to complex acoustic and vibration-related engineering challenges.
Translate mission and program requirements into effective acoustic test methodologies and measurable outcomes.
Analyze acoustic data to identify performance risks, failure modes, and improvement opportunities.
Deliver technically sound recommendations that influence engineering and program decisions.
Engineering Excellence
Develop and refine acoustic test processes, methodologies, and best practices to improve team capability and efficiency.
Ensure testing aligns with applicable safety, environmental, and regulatory compliance requirements.
Maintain technical currency with emerging acoustic technologies, tools, and industry standards.
Support root-cause investigations and performance verification efforts.
Collaboration & Influence
Partner with multidisciplinary engineering teams to integrate acoustic testing into broader system verification strategies.
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and team members.
Communicate complex technical findings clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Influence project direction through expert technical consultation.
Program Delivery
Estimate and plan engineering work packages, identifying risks, dependencies, and resource needs.
Support schedule and cost performance by proactively managing technical scope.
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance test efficiency and mission readiness.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Acoustical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Physics, or related technical discipline.
9+ years' experience in acoustic testing, measurement systems, signal analysis, or related engineering environments with 1+ years in a leadership role.
Knowledge of acoustic instrumentation, data acquisition systems, and analysis tools.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with demonstrated technical ownership.
Ability to operate effectively in fast-paced, mission-critical environments.
May be required to maintain security clearance(Note: US Security Clearances are only granted to US Citizens)

Expected Compensation: The expected compensation range for this role is
$163,176.00 - $203,944.00.
Please note this represents the expected range. Ultra Maritime considers multiple factors when determining final compensation, including the scope and responsibilities of the role, a candidate's relevant experience and education, certifications and training, as well as current business and market conditions.
