The Lead Electrical Planner oversees planning, scheduling, and cost control activities for turnaround (TA) projects, with a strong focus on electrical and instrumentation work. This role uses IPS (TOADFLY) and a work order management system to develop detailed plans, track progress through custom KPIs and reports, and support project controls across multiple planners and execution coordinators. The Lead Electrical Planner ensures accurate earned and burned value tracking, effective cost management, and clear reporting to support successful project execution.
Responsibilities
Develop, maintain, and optimize electrical and instrumentation plans and schedules using IPS (TOADFLY).
Create, configure, and manage custom KPIs and other performance metrics within IPS (TOADFLY) to monitor project progress and performance.
Design and generate custom reports and dashboards to provide clear visibility into schedule adherence, cost performance, and progress for stakeholders.
Use the work order management system to create, track, update, and close work orders for turnaround activities.
Support the creation and management of cost controls for turnaround projects, including tracking and reporting earned and burned values.
Collaborate with project controls teams to align planning data with project budgets, forecasts, and cost tracking requirements.
Provide project controls and reporting support for multiple planners and execution coordinators, ensuring consistency and accuracy of information.
Monitor and analyze cost and schedule variances, and provide data-driven insights to support decision-making and corrective actions.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date project documentation, including plans, cost reports, KPIs, and historical data for future reference.
Coordinate closely with execution teams to ensure that plans are realistic, resourced appropriately, and aligned with field conditions.
Continuously improve planning, reporting, and cost control processes by refining KPIs, templates, and reporting tools.
Essential Skills
Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience with IPS (TOADFLY) for planning and scheduling.
Proven ability to create custom KPIs and performance reports within IPS (TOADFLY).
2-3 years of experience working with a work order management system for planning and execution of maintenance or turnaround activities.
Experience supporting cost controls for turnaround or similar projects, including earned and burned value tracking.
Practical knowledge of project controls principles, including cost tracking, forecasting, and variance analysis.
Ability to work effectively with multiple planners and execution coordinators to support integrated planning and reporting.
Strong reporting skills, including the ability to present complex data clearly for different stakeholders.
Familiarity with electrical and instrumentation planning in an industrial or project environment.
Proficiency in using reporting tools to extract, analyze, and present project data.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy in planning, cost tracking, and documentation.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience with maintenance or turnaround work order systems such as Maximo or similar platforms.
Background in project controls roles supporting cost, schedule, and performance reporting.
Understanding of earned value management concepts and their application to turnaround projects.
Experience working in environments with multiple planners and execution coordinators, supporting integrated project delivery.
Ability to refine and standardize KPI frameworks and reporting templates to improve project visibility.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to interpret cost and schedule data and support decision-making.
Work Environment

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $80.00 - $85.00/hr.
