This posting will be used to fill one (1) intermittent vacancy within the Minnesota Veterans Home-Fergus Falls. An intermittent employee works an irregular and uncertain schedule as the needs of the agency require. Intermittent employees must be available to work all three shifts and some weekends. Shifts may be: day shift 6:30am-3:00pm, afternoon shift: 10:30am-7:00pm and/or evening shift: 3:30pm-7:30pm. The position is not initially eligible for health and dental insurance benefits.

Employees in this class perform routine work in the preparation and service of food.

Minimum Qualifications

Knowledge of:

Materials and methods used in preparing food

Care and use of cooking utensils and equipment

Food values and nutrition

Ability to:

Perform simple cooking on a large scale

Plan and prepare small meals on a household scale

Perform simple cleaning and food service tasks

Follow instructions

Preferred Qualifications

Experience prepping, plating, and serving food

Knowledge of basic sanitation standards

Additional Requirements

This position requires successful completion of the following:

A Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) background check may be conducted on the top finalist(s) for the position(s). When conducted, a finalist must pass the DHS background check.

A Tuberculosis (Mantoux) screening (or chest x-ray) is required prior to employment.

Employment reference checks will be conducted on all finalists. This may include a review of documentation related to job performance and contact with the applicant's former employer(s).
