Job Description
A well-established commercial construction firm in Connecticut is seeking an experienced Construction Superintendent to lead on-site operations for large renovation and new construction projects. This senior-level role requires a superintendent who works autonomously, manages multiple trades, and takes full ownership of field execution from project startup through completion. Responsibilities
Lead and manage all on-site construction activities from project startup through completion for commercial and multifamily projects.
Act as the primary on-site point of contact for subcontractors, inspectors, and project ownership representatives.
Supervise approximately 20 on-site workers and coordinate 4-10 subcontractor trades depending on the project phase.
Read, interpret, and build from construction drawings, blueprints, and specifications to ensure accurate field execution.
Maintain and manage a detailed three-week look-ahead schedule and perform schedule edits as needed, aligning with the master schedule provided by project management.
Utilize Procore to manage daily field reports and logs, progress photography, RFIs, submittals, and other project documentation and communication.
Oversee site logistics, trade sequencing, and on-site quality control to ensure work meets project standards and specifications.
Enforce jobsite safety standards and ensure compliance with OSHA regulations at all times.
Proactively identify field issues, evaluate options, and drive practical, timely solutions to keep the project on track.
Support early project setup and assist with procurement coordination to ensure materials and resources are available when needed.
Collaborate closely with project management to report progress, address challenges, and maintain alignment with project goals and timelines.
Essential Skills
Minimum of 10 years of experience as a Construction Superintendent on commercial construction projects.
Proven ability to run projects independently with minimal oversight while managing multiple trades and site activities.
Strong working knowledge of construction means, methods, and sequencing for commercial and multifamily projects.
Demonstrated experience supervising field crews and coordinating subcontractors on projects up to $20 million in size.
Proficiency with Procore, including entering daily logs, managing photographs, pulling submittals and RFIs, and handling project documentation.
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, blueprints, and specifications accurately.
Experience with short-interval scheduling, including three-week look-ahead schedules and schedule adjustments.
Solid background in subcontractor management, construction safety, and field coordination.
OSHA 10 certification with willingness to obtain OSHA 30, or OSHA 30 certification preferred.
Experience with multifamily projects, including projects of $7 million or more in size.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
At least 7 years of experience specifically as a superintendent in commercial construction environments.
Extensive experience managing safety practices and promoting a strong safety culture on active jobsites.
Comfort with construction technology and digital tools to support efficient communication and documentation.
Ability to build strong working relationships with subcontractors, inspectors, and project stakeholders.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound decisions in the field under time constraints.

Work Environment
This role is primarily onsite at active construction projects in and around Bridgeport, Connecticut, with an office location based in Waterbury, Connecticut. The position is field-focused, working directly on commercial and multifamily construction sites overseeing day-to-day operations. The work environment involves coordinating multiple trades, managing logistics, and ensuring safety and quality in a dynamic jobsite setting. The company provides a truck and gas card for work-related travel, as well as a cell phone and laptop to support communication and documentation, including use of Procore for project management. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $110000.00 - $135000.00/yr.

Vacation time is non-accruing. 2 paid personal days and 3 paid sick days per year
