Job Description:
The Iowa State University Athletics Department has an opening for an entry-level Assistant Women's Basketball Coach to join a program competing at the highest level of Division I basketball. This role supports the head coach in all aspects of a nationally competitive program and plays a key part in developing student-athletes who excel on the court, in the classroom, and in the community. This coach will work closely with the point guard position group.

Help design and execute practice plans that elevate individual and team performance, preparing student-athletes for success in high-pressure, competitive environments
Teach, mentor, and coach with a holistic approach that supports athletic development, personal growth, and a championship-caliber team culture
Identify and successfully recruit and retain top-tier talent who meet the program's academic standards and competitive expectations
Analyze scouting reports and opponent tendencies to contribute to game strategy and tactical preparation
Support academic achievement, fostering an environment that prioritizes student-athlete welfare, progress toward degree completion, and long-term success
Build strong relationships with student-athletes, staff, campus partners, alumni, media, and the broader Cyclone community
Adhere to University, Conference and NCAA policies, procedures, and regulations
Candidates should bring a high basketball IQ with strong knowledge of offensive and defensive systems, the point guard position, player development, strategic acumen, and in-game adjustments. The role requires exceptional communication and motivational ability to inspire student-athletes, work collaboratively with staff, and convey a clear program vision. A commitment to multiculturalism and supporting a diverse student body is essential. The position also involves extensive travel, including overnight trips for recruiting and competition.
Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on an ongoing basis without sponsorship.?Immigration sponsorship is not available for this position.
Required Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree.
Experience coaching or competing in basketball at a highly competitive level (post high school).
Preferred Qualifications
Expertise coaching point guards or playing the point guard position at Division I Power 4 or professional women's program.
In game experience calling plays and developing offensive strategies.
Demonstrated ability to recruit and develop high-caliber student-athletes, and have strong recruiting connections.
