THE POSITION

As a Forensic Registered Nurse Supervisor for the Department of Human Services, you will help shape high-quality psychiatric care at Norristown State Hospital. DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This position provides leadership and oversight for nursing care delivered to patients with serious psychiatric and behavioral needs within the forensic treatment setting. As a Forensic Registered Nurse Supervisor, you will perform the following duties:
Staff Supervision: Direct and evaluate nursing and forensic staff to ensure effective patient care
Care Oversight: Monitor treatment areas to maintain a safe and therapeutic environment
Training Support: Provide orientation, education, and on-the-job training for nursing personnel
Emergency Response: Address psychiatric emergencies and guide staff in safe intervention practices
Performance Management: Coach, assess, and document employee performance and development needs
Communication Coordination: Share important clinical information with teams, leadership, and support services

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
Work hours are 2nd shift (3:00 PM to 11:30 PM) with rotating on and off duty days, including weekends and holidays, and a 30-minute lunch. Your schedule may change based on operational needs.
Overtime as required and subject to emergency call in.
Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
Three years as a Forensic Registered Nurse (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration);or
Four years of professional nursing experience providing care, treatment, custody, and control of psychiatric patients.
Special Requirements:
This position requires active authorization to practice as a Registered Nurse in Pennsylvania.
If you possess an active temporary practice permit, you must obtain licensure as a Registered Nurse within the one (1) year period defined by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing.
Other Requirements:
PA residency requirement (https://www.employment.pa.gov/Additional%20Info/Pages/default.aspx) is currentlywaivedfor this title.
You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Legal Requirements:
A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
