Job Description
Job Summary:
As an Electrical Engineer III at Mercury Systems, you will be a recognized proficient hardware electrical engineer working with our world-class, integrated team on the complete hardware development lifecycle. You will independently design complex embedded systems for mission-critical applications-from below the ocean to orbiting in space. Work on challenging projects including the world's most secure processing and storage hardware, advanced FPGA RF and signal processing systems, Digital Radio Frequency Memory (DRFM) devices, advanced display technologies, and extreme environment electronics that power operations across Space, Air, Land, and Sea. This role requires taking ownership of significant design efforts while serving as a technical resource for junior engineers. At Mercury, we work with an Integrator Mindset, collaborating across sites and disciplines to create novel solutions that directly impact the security of our country and the safety of our world.
Job Responsibilities:
Independently design, develop, and verify complex circuits, modules, and systems to meet customer and market requirements
Take ownership of the full product development lifecycle from concept through production, ensuring quality and performance standards
Lead debug and root cause analysis efforts for complex hardware and software issues
Develop embedded digital hardware including compute modules, signal processing systems, secure storage, DRFM devices, and IO interface modules
Design using cutting-edge technology from Intel, Microchip, Xilinx, Altera, NVIDIA, Broadcom, TI and beyond
Implement high-speed digital design interfaces including 100G+ Ethernet, PCIe Gen 3/4, DDR4/5 SDRAM, fiber optics, HD-SDI, LVDS
Create schematics using Cadence DEHDL (Concept) and collaborate with CAD/SI teams; demonstrate solid understanding of signal integrity principles
Drive board bring-up, debug, test, and verification of electrical designs
Develop detailed design specifications, test plans, verification reports, and perform analysis including derating, reliability, and FMECA
Provide mentorship and guidance to junior hardware engineers (EE I-II) and lead small projects
Required Qualifications:
BS in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering (Master's preferred)
Typically requires 4-8 years of electrical engineering product development experience from concept to production
Experience designing complex embedded digital hardware products from concept to completion
Experience designing complex circuits with microprocessors, FPGAs, or network switches
Experience with high-speed digital interfaces such as FPGA, PCIe, SATA, I2C, ARINC 429, Ethernet, HD-SDI
Experience developing detailed design specifications, test plans, and verification reports
Experience designing schematics using Cadence DEHDL (Concept) or equivalent
Understanding of signal integrity principles for high-speed digital design
Experience leading projects and mentoring other engineers.
This position requires you to have or obtain a government security clearance. Security clearances may only be granted to U.S. citizens
Preferred Qualifications:
An active DoD Secret Clearance
Experience designing with Intel (Xilinx) and AMD (Altera) FPGAs, particularly Agilex or Versal
Experience designing network interface devices (Mellanox, Broadcom, Marvell) or Intel CPU architecture with BIOS firmware
Experience using Cadence Allegro for CAD/SI layout and simulation
Experience with schematic integrity checking analysis with Mentor Valydate or equivalent
Knowledge of military standards and experience developing to MIL-STD-704F, 1275, 461G, 1399, DO-160G
Commercial/Defense 3U/6U VPX (VITA46, VITA65) or COM Express/SoM experience
Design for Reliability (DFR), Design for Manufacturability (DFM), Design for Cost (DFC), Design for Test (DFT)
Experience with power supply design and EMI compliance (CE EMI and MIL-STD-461G)
Experience with video processing, HD-SDI, display technologies, secure computing, anti-tamper, encryption, or DRFM devices
Experience with space applications or radiation tolerant components.
Requirements traceability tools (JAMA, DOORS) or Atlassian tools (JIRA, Confluence)
