Summary You will serve as a DESIGN PRODUCTION COORDINATOR in the DESIGN PRODUCTION / QUALITY DIVISION of NAVAL FACILITIES ENG COMMAND ATLANTIC. Responsibilities You will serve as a Senior Engineer/Architect performing duties as the Design Production Coordinator (DPC) for the Command. You will manage design and construction projects to ensure the structure, systems, functions, and performance adhere to pre-established standards and requirements. You will evaluate contractor proposals to determine if they meet the government's architectural and engineering legal requirements. You will compose technical correspondence to communicate engineering and architectural designs, plans, and objectives to higher level management, technical experts, and staff. You will evaluate architect-engineer (A/E) project resources, work methods, processes, and staffing to initiate actions that will reduce cost or increase productivity. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Selective Placement Factor (SPF): This position has an SPF which is CURRENT registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) or Architect (RA) in any State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or Guam. OR Successful completion of a bachelor's or higher degree in a field related to architecture that included 60 semester hours of course work in architecture or related disciplines of which at least (1) 30 semester hours were in architectural design, and (2) 6 semester hours were in each of the following: structural technology, properties of materials and methods of construction, and environmental control systems. OR Have a combination of college-level education, training, and/or technical experience that furnished (1) a thorough knowledge of the arts and sciences underlying professional architecture, and (2) a good understanding, both theoretical and practical, of the architectural principles, methods, and techniques and their applications to the design and construction or improvement of buildings. The curriculum for a degree is in either architecture or architectural engineering and covers function, esthetics, site, structure, economics, mechanical-electrical, and other engineering problems related to the design and construction of buildings primarily (but not exclusively) intended to house human activitiesORyou lack a degree in architecture, but have 1 year of experience in an architect's office or in architectural work for each year short of graduation from a program of study in architecture that demonstrates that you have acquired a thorough knowledge of the fundamental principles and theories of professional architecture.
