Pay Range: **
Health Technician: $20.20-$22.62/hr, based on qualifications and experience
Athletic Secretary: $22.19-$24.85/hr, based on qualifications and experience
Hours/day: 6 total
Health Technician: 4 hours/day
Athletic Secretary: 2 hours/day

SUMMARY (Health Technician): **
Responsible for coordinating and collaborating with the school nurse to provide health care, first aid, medications, and/or assistance with medical procedures to students. Maintain and compile a student health records and files database and health-related reports and documents.
SUMMARY (Athletic Secretary):
Responsible for providing secretarial and administrative support for the Athletics/Activities Director and athletic/activities programs at a middle school.
JOB TASKS (Health Technician):
Evaluate and attend to students visiting the health office; provide emergency and routine health care and/or first aid, administer medications through a needle, feeding tubes, rectal, oral, or topical routes adhering to district and state procedures, and perform delegated medical procedures. Contact parents and school nurse as needed. Collaborate with building administration and nurse when calling 911.
Maintain health office records, including all office visits, phone calls, collection and uploading of Health Care Action Plans (HCAPs), immunizations, medications, vision and hearing results and referrals, cumulative health information, and accident and injury records.
Enter data into the computerized health office log to document health office student visits, procedures, and medication administration, as well as the action taken/dispensed in real time.
Coordinate student health needs between teachers, nurses, and parents.
Maintain the health office cleanliness, take inventory, and order health office supplies and equipment as needed.
Prepare medications for all school-sponsored trips. Coordinate with trip sponsor and nurse to ensure time is adequate for delegation.
Assist in maintaining health records, coordinating screenings, and providing health services to pre-K students as needed in elementary schools.
Type correspondence, newsletters, forms, and memos in collaboration with school nurse.
Conduct student vision and hearing screenings. Assist with planning and preparation as well as participation and follow-up on all referrals in collaboration with school nurse.
Gather data and prepare reports, including but not limited to, health condition reports, immunization reports, and hearing and vision screenings. Work with nurse on monthly medication audits, run report and double count to ensure medication counts are accurate.
Attend required training classes and district health technician meetings. Complete online professional development training as required.
Assist in notifying parents of immunization and exemption requirements. Gather immunizations records and enter into electronic record. 13. Perform other duties as assigned.
JOB TASKS (Athletic Secretary):
Perform secretarial and administrative duties for Athletics/Activities Director and school office, including answering phones, routing calls, taking messages, and responding to inquiries; greeting and assisting visitors; and producing school documents.
Communicate and interface with Athletics/Activities Director, parents, athletes, staff, game workers, District personnel, officials, coaches, District Athletic Coordinator, and custodial staff. Serve on various employee teams and attend faculty meetings.
Verify and enter data, manage records, and run reports from student information system related to student grades, eligibility, athletic participation documents, athlete free and reduced lunch program, attendance, and team rosters.
Perform financial duties related to athletics and activities, including collecting athletic fees, maintaining records, and returning fees to students as needed.
Process, coordinate, and communicate building/gym usage and maintain building rental calendar.
Assist with duties of the school office, including assisting with projects, fire drills, providing first aid, administering medications to students, and arranging for employee travel.
May supervise, train, and/or guide the work of student aides.
Maintain and record eligibility for all extracurricular athletics and activities, and maintain student holds for athletes. Report eligibility weekly and quarterly.
Hire, schedule, and coordinate game workers.
Coordinate end of season athletic awards/banquets.
Perform other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND LICENSES REQUIRED (Health Technician):
** Equivalent combination of education and life experience acceptable
** Prior medical experience, such as CNA or MA certification, preferred
** Successful completion of First Aid, CPR, and Administering Medication in a School Setting certifications; if not currently certified, successful completion must be done at earliest convenience after hire
** Criminal background check required for hire

High school diploma or equivalent
Specialized vocational or technical training beyond high school
Two to three years of related experience
Equivalent combination of education and experience acceptable
