The Advancement Reporting, Analytics and Operations Lead (ARAO) plays a key role within the College of Saint Benedict's Institutional Advancement department (IA), supporting key functions such as analytics, gift processing and acknowledgements, donor data integrity, and strategic reporting. Reporting directly to the Executive Director (ED) of Advancement Systems, this role is responsible for managing the institution's fundraising database, ensuring accuracy, security, and meaningful insights that drive constituent engagement and institutional fundraising strategies. This position serves as IA's lead expert in utilizing data from our Technolution's Slate CRM, its daily backup file, and external reporting tools (e.g., Power BI) with an emphasis on giving and financial reports, constituent engagement metrics, prospect research, and fundraising program analysis.
In collaboration with College of Saint Benedict and Saint John's University (CSB+SJU) Information Technology Services (IT Services) partners, the ARAO will work across teams within IA, and in partnership with Saint John's University's Advancement Services team members, to expand capabilities of existing reporting functionality within the CRM, identify unique program-specific reporting needs.
This position will also be heavily involved in maintaining IA's optimization of existing technologies, as well as awareness and readiness for upgrades and changes to the advancement services landscape, understanding implications and opportunities for data structures, integrations, and reporting.

The posted wage represents CSB and SJU's good faith estimate of likely compensation at the time of posting. Actual pay will be dependent upon several factors, including the candidate's experience, qualifications, and skills, and may fall outside of the range indicated.
Responsibilities
Reporting and Data Management
Serve as the database manager for IA by providing leadership and administrative oversight in supporting data-driven strategies and tactics to ensure database integrity by managing the process and workflow for timely and accurate data entry/coding of gifts.
Ensure gift receipting and gift acknowledgment to donors are distributed in a timely and accurate manner by providing oversight, training and support to gift processing and stewardship staff.
Design, build, and maintain a comprehensive suite of reports and dashboards to support fundraising, constituent engagement, and prospect research and management.
Develop, test, and validate complex queries, data extracts, and transformations using Slate, Fundraiser Performance Management, and other integrated data sources.
Employ advanced data manipulation techniques (joins, calculated fields, and data blending) to create efficient and accurate reporting outputs.
Translate business requirements from Institutional Advancement leadership and campus partners into scalable, user-friendly reporting solutions.
Maintain documentation and version control for all reports, dashboards, and data models.
Analytics and Strategic Insight
Develop and maintain Power BI dashboards to visualize trends, Key Performance Indicators, and campaign progress reports in intuitive and interactive formats.
Conduct in-depth data analysis to uncover insights related to donor and prospect behavior, solicitation outcomes, and program performance.
Partner with Institutional Advancement leadership to define success metrics, benchmarks, and evaluation frameworks for fundraising and engagement strategies.
Provide actionable insights and recommendations that inform strategic planning and decision-making.
Data Integration and Data Modernization Support
Stay informed and actively engaged in updates and optimization of Technolutions' Slate CRM, understanding implications for data structures, integrations, and reporting.
Support the adaptation of reports and dashboards to align with Slate's data architecture, its anticipated incorporation of Artificial Intelligence capabilities, and new APIs that connect to other software vendors used within the Advancement Division.
Collaborate with the ED and CSB+SJU's IT Services to prepare and execute migration and integration strategies ensuring continuity of reporting and analytics capabilities.
Collaboration and Data Integrity
Partner with Advancement Systems colleagues, IT Services, the CSB Business Office, Institutional Research, SJU Advancement Services, and CSB Institutional Advancement leadership to ensure consistent data definitions and reporting standards.
Promote best practices in data governance, data visualization development, and data interpretation to enhance overall data literacy within the division.
Serve as an internal consultant for staff seeking to better understand or utilize Advancement data.
Administrative and Operational Leadership
Develop and implement user training and support end-users for all IA technology solutions.
In collaboration with IT Services, establish and maintain processes and standards for providing computer hardware and software to IA staff, and those campus partners utilizing IA-supported technology.
Support audits, campaigns and special projects as assigned.
Represent College of Saint Benedict at community and college-sponsored events.
Maintain a healthy, fair and inclusive work environment by promoting diversity, exercising teamwork and collaboration in working with diverse groups, donors, volunteers and coworkers.
Perform those duties and responsibilities as may be requested by the Vice President for Institutional Advancement or the college President.

Qualifications
Minimum qualifications
Bachelor's degree in computer science, data analytics, information systems, business intelligence, or related concentration, and 3 years of professional experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Leadership ability to manage challenges and oversee employees with direct and indirect authority.
Strong ability to organize and prioritize work, be proactive, take initiative, resolve problems, make decisions, follow through, and simultaneously manage multiple priorities to ensure goals are met in a timely manner.
Excellent customer service skills.
Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills to interact with technical and non-technical stakeholders. Ability to translate complex data into clear, actionable insights for diverse audiences.
Understand basic principles of computer system analysis, principles of organization and project management.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or comparable software and ability to learn new software as necessary.
Proficiency in Power BI or comparable data reporting tool, including building interactive dashboards, data blending, calculated fields, and advanced visualization techniques.
Demonstrated experience with advanced data manipulation and transformation, including the use of:
Query and export tools within Slate or a comparable CRM.
SQL or equivalent query languages for relational data analysis.
Excel (advanced functions, pivot tables, and Power Query)
Understanding of data architecture, normalization, and data integrity principles.
Ability to be flexible and adapt to changes in technology. Strong analytical mindset to debug, optimize, and innovate across systems.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a complex environment and build positive relationships with internal and external clientele.
Demonstrated commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment.
Ability and willingness to represent the College at evening and weekend events, as required.
Preferred qualifications
3 or more years of experience in a Higher Education setting.
3 or more years supporting advancement-based technical solutions.
Knowledge of fundraising metrics, campaign tracking, and donor lifecycle analytics.
Experience in data governance, automation, or predictive modeling.
Physical requirements
Ability to perform work in a primarily office environment with extended periods of sitting.
Ability to work at a computer for extended periods, including typing, reading from a screen, and using various software programs essential for the role.
Travel requirements
Occasional travel between the campuses of the College of Saint Benedict and Saint John's University.

HEALTH INSURANCE
Employees are eligible for coverage in the health insurance plan on the first of the month following date of hire. If you elect medical coverage for yourself, you may also choose to cover your eligible dependents. The employee and CSB/SJU share in the cost of this benefit.
DENTAL INSURANCE
Employees are eligible for coverage in the dental insurance plan on the first of the month following date of hire. If you elect dental coverage for yourself, you may also choose to cover your eligible dependents. The employee and CSB/SJU share in the cost of this benefit.
LIFE INSURANCE
CSB/SJU provides a Basic Life and Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D) policy to employees. This insurance is effective on the first of the month following date of hire. The amount of term insurance provided is based on your annual salary.
You may also purchase additional life insurance in increments of one, two, three, or four times your annual salary. There is also a dependent life insurance package available.
LONG-TERM DISABILITY
After one year of benefit eligible employment, CSB/SJU provides disability coverage in the event of an illness or injury that prevents you from working.
VACATION
Paid vacation is accrued based upon FTE and the number of years employed. Vacation is cumulative from year to year to a maximum of 240 hours.

TUITION REMISSION
Tuition remission is an educational benefit provided by CSB/SJU. A full-time employee and spouse (if applicable) are eligible for tuition free educational benefits the first full semester after six months of employment. Full time employees may enroll for one undergraduate course per term, which includes summer: up to a maximum of 2 courses per year.
There is also a tuition remission program for dependent children of full-time employees. This program provides a financial resource to a son or daughter for meeting the tuition costs of undergraduate education. Eligibility begins the fall or spring semester following 2 years (24 months) of continuous full-time employment. There are also two consortia programs in which CSB/SJU participate where employees' children may apply for scholarships to attend other colleges/universities.
Tuition assistance is also available at Saint John's Preparatory School for the dependents of full-time employees.
PARENTAL LEAVE
A paid leave (up to 15 days) will be granted to eligible employees upon the birth or adoption of a child, pro-rated based on FTE. New employees are eligible for this benefit after twelve months of employment.
SICK LEAVE
Full-time employees earn up to 9 days of sick leave per year, pro-rated based on FTE.
Sick leave is cumulative from year to year up to a maximum of 720 hours (90 days). Employees may also use accumulated personal sick leave to care for ill family members.
EMPLOYEEASSISTANCE PROGRAM
The Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is a free counseling resource available to
all employees and immediate family members.
RETIREMENT
Defined Contribution Plan
CSB/SJU provides a retirement program for all qualified full-time employees. The program is administered by Teachers Insurance and Annuity Association (TIAA).
Enrollment in the retirement plan will be effective the first day of the month following the date of hire unless the employee elects to opt-out.
