Job Title: Electronics Engineer
Job Description
This role leads and implements product design initiatives for electrical, electronic, and control systems in a fast-paced, innovation-focused environment. The Electronics Engineer performs system analysis of customer applications, conducts root cause analysis of product and customer system issues, and drives new product development from concept through design and into production. The position offers the opportunity to work on high-tech products used in applications ranging from defense to gaming, while collaborating closely with a multi-disciplinary engineering team.
Responsibilities
Lead and implement product design initiatives for electrical, electronic, and control system components and assemblies.
Perform feasibility analysis for new product development (NPD) projects to assess technical and practical viability.
Develop system-level designs for new products, including architecture, interfaces, and integration with customer systems.
Assemble multi-disciplinary development teams and coordinate contributions from electrical, mechanical, software, and manufacturing stakeholders.
Lead the project development team and take responsibility for the entire program, including technical performance, schedule, and scope.
Interface with internal customers such as production, quality, and procurement to understand, clarify, and drive program requirements.
Establish, track, and drive program schedules and costs, ensuring projects remain on time and within budget.
Report program status clearly and concisely to internal customers and leadership, highlighting risks, issues, and mitigation plans.
Motivate and guide the development team, including supporting extended efforts when programs require additional focus.
Transition new products efficiently from development into production, ensuring a smooth handoff and robust manufacturability.
Assist with initial product builds, including troubleshooting, test support, and design adjustments as needed.
Conduct system analysis of customer applications to ensure proper product integration and performance.
Perform root cause analysis of product and customer system issues and drive corrective actions to resolution.
Create and review schematic designs for electronic circuits and systems.
Support and review layout design and PCB design activities to ensure compliance with electrical and mechanical requirements.
Collaborate on FPGA-based designs, including working with Verilog and Xilinx toolchains.
Establish and maintain a personal time management system to handle multiple concurrent projects effectively.
Display a professional demeanor when representing the organization to customers and suppliers.
Mentor engineers and junior team members, sharing knowledge in electronics, schematic design, PCB design, and hardware design best practices.
Essential Skills
2-4 years of professional post-graduation work experience as an Electronics Engineer.
Strong experience in schematic design for electronic circuits and systems.
Hands-on experience with layout and PCB design, including collaboration with board layout tools and processes.
Practical exposure to FPGA design and development, with a strong preference for Xilinx devices.
Experience working with Verilog for FPGA or digital hardware design.
Solid foundation in electrical and electronics engineering principles.
Ability to perform system-level analysis of customer applications and product behavior.
Ability to conduct root cause analysis and troubleshoot complex hardware and system issues.
Strong communication skills to clearly and concisely report program status to stakeholders.
Demonstrated ability to lead or coordinate cross-functional development efforts.
Effective time management skills to handle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
Professional demeanor when interacting with customers, suppliers, and internal teams.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience with Orcad or similar electronic design automation tools.
Communications or fiber optics.
Additional experience with Xilinx FPGA toolchains and ecosystems.
Experience with VHDL for digital hardware design.
Programming experience in C for embedded or hardware-related applications.
Understanding of electromagnetic fields and their impact on hardware design and PCB layout.
Experience in hardware design for high-tech applications such as defense or gaming products.
Interest in working across all phases of product development, from concept through design and into production.
Desire to work in a collaborative environment where junior engineers receive direct mentorship from engineers.
Work Environment
This position is 100% onsite in a fast-paced engineering environment where multiple projects-often nine or more-run concurrently. The role involves close collaboration with a multi-disciplinary team and direct mentorship from experienced engineering leadership. You will work across the full product lifecycle, from concept and feasibility through design, initial builds, and transition to production, on high-tech products used in diverse applications such as defense and gaming. This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Melbourne, FL.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $32.00 - $35.00/hr.
