This position serves our partners at the Department of Corrections (DOC). The MNIT DOC team runs many unique applications that manage the information and security of the department, supporting 4,500 employees across 10 prisons and 50 field offices located throughout the state.
As the Senior Solution Support Engineer with Minnesota IT Services (MNIT) and the Department of Corrections (DOC) you will be responsible for the stability, integrity, and efficient operation of Information Systems and Technologies, including solutions and devices for a specific set of business portfolios within the Business Services and Support Organization.
This role applies communication, analytical and problem-solving skills to help identify, communicate and resolve issues to maximize the benefit of IT systems investments for the Minnesota Department of Corrections, Clemency Review Commission, Ombudsman and Cannabis Expungement Board.
Due to the nature of the work, this position may be required to travel between DOC facilities .
This position requires an employee to be onsite at 1450 Energy Park Dr. St. Paul, Minnesota at least 50% of the time, with some opportunity to perform work from a telework location. Minimum Qualifications

Position requires a minimum of four (4) years of IT related experience in application, device, and software solutions support.
Experience must include:
Portfolio Ticket management experience involving management/prioritization, process oversight and point of escalation for multiple intake points.
Collaborate effectively within a multi-tiered IT support model and with vendors to procure, troubleshoot, and implement scalable technology solutions across agency environments.
Strategizing, monitoring, and executing software updates to ensure system currency and optimal performance.
Collaborating directly with software and asset vendors to troubleshoot technology challenges and implement scalable business solutions.
Management and prioritization of application portfolio demand, overseeing intake processes, and serving as a point of escalation for complex technical issues and projects.
Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and effectively in a manner that facilitates mutual understanding.
Customer-focused approach grounded in active listening, empathy, and solution-oriented problem-solving to deliver positive user experiences.
Education in Information Technology (IT) or an IT related field may substitute for experience as follows: a master's degree for eighteen (18) months of experience; a bachelor's degree for one (1) year; and an associate's degree for six (6) months.
** This position requires a driver's license for travel between DOC and agency facilities.
Preferred Qualifications
Familiarity with Server operating systems (such as Microsoft Operating systems), client software delivery/configuration (such as GroupPolicy Objects (GPO), drive mappings, Microsoft EndPoint Configuration Manager (MECM) etc.), Firewalls and Networking.
Teleconference/device installation and configuration experience.
Experience with SDLC, ITIL, Incident Management and/or Project Management methodologies
Device support/installation of various printers and misc. devices for varied Solutions Support.
Strongly Preferred Qualifications
Technical knowledge/experience with Building Automation/HVAC systems to include but not limited to installation/configuration/troubleshooting.
MNIT Services experience
MN Department of Corrections or similar Correctional Experience.
Physical Requirements
Requires moving / lifting devices and technologies such as desktops, monitors, laptops, video conferencing devices and miscellaneous equipment from multiple locations. Desk to desk or from one agency site to another. Lifting devices on to storage shelves above head (40 lbs.) and being able to gain access or crawl under desks.
