Job Summary
The Outside Sales Engineer is responsible for driving revenue by selling steam boilers, heating hot water (HHW), and domestic hot water (DHW) systems, along with related equipment and services. This is a consultative, technical sales role focused on helping customers design, upgrade, and maintain efficient boiler systems.
Key Responsibilities
Develop new business opportunities across commercial and industrial markets
Sell steam boilers, hot water boilers, burners, controls, pumps, and packaged systems
Build relationships with:
Mechanical contractors
Consulting engineers
Facility managers & plant engineers
Conduct site visits to evaluate system needs and recommend solutions
Prepare quotes, proposals, and bid packages for boiler installations and retrofits
Collaborate with internal service and engineering teams on system design and specifications
Promote service agreements, maintenance programs, and retrofit upgrades
Manage full sales cycle (prospecting ? closing ? post-sale support)
Maintain CRM pipeline, forecasts, and reporting

Condensing & Non-Condensing Boilers
Boiler Accessories & Controls (e.g., burners, economizers, feed systems)

Required Qualifications
3+ years of B2B sales experience (HVAC, boilers, or industrial equipment preferred)
Technical understanding of:
Steam systems
Combustion or hydronic systems
Ability to read mechanical plans/specifications
Strong communication and relationship-building skills
Valid driver's license (field-based role)
Preferred Qualifications
Experience selling boilers, burners, or thermal systems
Knowledge of ASME codes, emissions standards, and safety regulations
Familiarity with brands like Parker, RBI, or similar boiler manufacturers
CRM experience (Salesforce or similar)
Working Conditions
Hybrid role: office + field sales
Frequent visits to industrial plants, mechanical rooms, and construction sites
Exposure to equipment environments (heat, noise, PPE required)

Base salary: $95,000-$105,000 per year. This role may be eligible for participation in discretionary bonus plan based on company and individual performance.
