Responsibilities If selected for this position as a Investigative Analyst in the United States Attorney's Office (USAO), you will perform a range of public affairs and community outreach duties and provide a variety of administrative and office support services to the USAO. Typical work assignments will include: Planning and conducting investigative analysis of routine cases and legal matters of concern to the USAO. Accessing, collecting, examining and analyzing data, evidence and other information from a variety of sources, including public access and law enforcement databases. Examining books, ledgers, payroll, cost reports, billing statement, invoices, correspondence, computer data and other records pertaining to the transactions, events or allegations under investigation. Establishing and/or verifying relationships among all facts and evidence obtained or presented to confirm authenticity of documents, corroborate witness statements and otherwise build proof necessary for successful litigation. Performing quantitative, qualitative or other analysis of relevant facts. Using resourcefulness and initiative to continue to develop information through further fact-finding until enough evidence is gathered to support a legal or administrative decision within criteria established by applicable laws, rules or regulations. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications GS-11: To be eligible at the GS-11 level, you must meet at least ONE of the following conditions, as defined below: Specialized Experience, Education, OR a combination of Education and Experience. Specialized Experience: One full year of full-time specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service which could have been gained in the federal, public, and/or private sector. Specialized Experience is defined as examining and analyzing data and evidence from a variety of sources, including public access and law enforcement databases to identify criminal and/or fraudulent activity; creating charts, graphs, video tapes, and/or other audio-visual materials for use in motions and/or trial; preparing investigative reports in support of litigation for use by attorneys; arranging for secure storage, preservation, and/or indexing of voluminous documentary evidence. OR Education: One of the following @types of education in a related field (e.g., Communications, Journalism, Public Affairs): a Ph.D. or equivalent doctorate degree; OR 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree; OR LL.M., if related. Education at the graduate level must be in an accredited college or university and must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the duties of the position. OR Combining Education and Experience: Combinations of successfully completed graduate education and experience may be used to meet total qualification requirements. In order to qualify based on a combination, graduate education must be in excess of 2 full years.
