Summary This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application. Responsibilities The Social Work Supervisor of the HUD/VASH Program, located at the West Palm Beach VA Medical Center, has significant personnel management responsibilities for the professional social work staff members assigned to the HUD/VASH Program. The Supervisory Social Worker is responsible for the professional and administrative management of social work services provided in HUD/VASH, while also providing direct clinical services to a limited caseload. Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: The Supervisory Social Worker works with the less senior social workers and provides administrative, technical, and clinical supervision necessary for accomplishing the work of the program. Assigns work, establishes guidelines and performance expectations for staff, and communicates with them through the formal employee performance management system. Observes workers' performance; demonstrates and conducts work performance critiques. Reviews the HUD/VASH team for appropriate treatment plans and appropriate social work documentation including Hurricane/Disaster planning for HUD/VASH clients. Provides informal feedback and periodically evaluates employee performance. Incumbent works to resolve informal complaints and grievances. Assures that subordinates are trained and fully comply with the provisions of the safety regulations and HUD/VASH national guidelines. Provides advice and counsel to workers related to work and administrative matters. Effects disciplinary measures as appropriate to the authority delegated in this area. Grade Determinations: In addition to the basic requirements for employment, the following criteria must be met when determining the grade of candidates. GS-12 Supervisory Social Worker Education and Experience. One year of experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level. Experience must demonstrate possession of advanced practice skills in a specialty area or in administration demonstrating progressively more professional competency and judgment. Candidate may have certification or other post-master's degree training from a nationally recognized professional organization or university that includes a defined curriculum/course of study and internship, or equivalent supervised professional experience. Licensure/Certification. Individuals assigned as Supervisory Social Workers must be licensed or certified at the advanced practice level, and must be able to provide supervision for licensure.
