With a diverse student population, Cecil College enrolls approximately 2,500 credit students and 3,400 non-credit students. Cecil offers associate degrees, certificate programs and non-credit classes. Cecil offers a variety of associate degree and certificate programs. Summary of Job Description The qualified applicant will be involved in a fast-paced, educational setting, instructing Apprentices in the electrical industry. Instructor should have experience, expertise, and the ability to effectively instruct Apprentices in the different Electrical Construction aspects of the traded such as: Residential Commercial Industrial Wiring Instructors will provide support to students and fellow staff members, work in a lab setting providing hands-on instruction with safety in mind, keep accurate records of student achievement, and an ability to maintain discipline in a classroom setting. Qualifications: Working knowledge of the NEC, with a thorough understanding of Electrical Theory and Code compliance specific to Construction Electricity. A thorough knowledge of the methods, materials, tools and equipment used in installing and repairing electrical systems, controls, and electrical machinery and equipment in buildings, programmable logic controllers, and construction site wiring; Computer literacy with programs such as MS Word and PowerPoint; Experience with distance or remote learning a plus. Must be a self-starter, creative in problem solving, exercise good judgments and ethics, and have superior customer service skills; An understanding of AC/DC electronics/ electricity, basic mathematics, solid state and digital electronics; Excellent communication skills Specific Position Requirements: Completion of an Approved Apprenticeship program, Journeyman's license with documented training in Electrical Theory or a Master Electrician's License. Experience in the Electrical Construction trade as an Electrical Foreman, Inspector, supervisor or other active position. Physical Demands: Must be able to lift and move up to a maximum of 50 lbs. The physical activity of this position includes, but is not limited to: climbing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, pulling, lifting, grasping, twisting and sitting. Work Environment: The worker will be subject to dust, noise, fumes, and odors. The worker will be exposed to inside and outside environmental conditions. Safety equipment will be provided where needed and required to be worn or used General Benefits: Cecil College offers part-time employees a wide range of benefits, including accrual of sick and safe leave (1 hour of sick and safe leave accrued for every 30 hours worked); opportunity to open a voluntary retirement account with TIAA or Fidelity; employee paid short term disability based on eligibility guidelines; access to the Fitness Center and library and tuition waiver based on eligibility guidelines. Rate for the position is $40/hr; schedule T/Th 6-9 pm (6 hours/week).
