Perform power system modeling and simulation, including work related to Real Time Digital Simulator (RTDS) and hardware-in-the-loop testing environments.
Contribute to the development and assessment of next-generation control center functionalities and synchrophasor-based applications.
Participate in projects involving the integration of Distribution Management Systems (DMS) and Distributed Energy Resource Management Systems (DERMS).
Apply engineering analysis to complex grid operation and planning problems, using data-driven and model-based approaches.
Use big data analytics techniques to extract insights from large operational and planning datasets.
Support and, over time, lead efforts to deploy, test, and evaluate the performance of new grid technologies and visualization tools.
Document study assumptions, methodologies, models, and analysis steps in a clear and traceable manner.
Prepare informative technical reports that summarize methods, findings, and recommendations for internal and external stakeholders.
Develop and deliver presentations that communicate project objectives, progress, results, and implications to technical and non-technical audiences.
Manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously, ensuring that work is completed on time and in alignment with research objectives.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams in areas such as cyber security testing, data analytics, and control center operations.
Contribute to the evaluation of DERMS platforms and other advanced grid management systems.
Leverage knowledge of databases, data structures, and computer networking to support data-driven research and tool development.

Additional Skills & Qualifications
Specialization or focused coursework in Power Systems is strongly preferred.
Training in or experience with data science methods and tools is desired.
Experience with modeling software and tools commonly used in power system studies is beneficial.
Exposure to Real Time Digital Simulator (RTDS) environments and hardware-in-the-loop testing is a plus.
Background in systems engineering concepts as applied to electrical and power systems is advantageous.
Experience with or interest in synchrophasor technology and next-generation control center functionalities.
Familiarity with Distribution Management Systems (DMS) and Distributed Energy Resource Management Systems (DERMS).
Experience in project management within a technical or research @context.
Ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams and adapt to evolving research priorities.
Work Environment
You will work in a dedicated Grid Visualization and Analytics Center within a broader Research & Development department, focused on innovation for Transmission and Distribution system operations. The environment emphasizes research, pre-operational development, assessment, and demonstration of situational awareness technologies. You will work with advanced tools and platforms, including synchrophasor technology, next-generation control center applications, cyber security testing environments, new visualization solutions, DERMS platform evaluation tools, and data analytics frameworks. The facility supports modeling and simulation through a Real Time Digital Simulator (RTDS) with hardware-in-the-loop testing capability, providing a highly technical and experimental setting. The role is primarily office and lab-based, using modern computer systems, specialized engineering software, and collaboration tools, with a professional, research-focused atmosphere that encourages innovation, continuous learning, and cross-functional collaboration.
