Department Summary:
MITRE is seeking a Director, Enterprise Business Systems to assume end-to-end leadership over the development, operations, and maintenance of MITRE's financial and business systems. This role will report to MITRE's Chief Financial Officer and will collaborate closely with the Chief Engineer to lead and steward the strategy, direction, and operational excellence of the financial Enterprise Business Systems and Operations Division.
Key responsibilities:
Lead the design, integration, performance, and operations of MITRE's core financial technical solutions.
Provide senior leadership perspective to connect disparate efforts and harmonize the enterprise data model.
Drive the end-to-end development and implementation of MITRE's cloud data warehouse
Lead staff teams and departments focused on data integrations, enterprise architecture, and business platforms.
Partner closely with the Chief Engineer to lead and steward the strategy, direction, operational excellence of the financial Enterprise Business Systems and Operations Division.
Ensure operational success and continuous improvement of MITRE's financial and business systems:
Maintain metrics and performance goals for each system.
Ensure practices, systems, and methods are in place to monitor the performance, health, and status of all financial and business systems.
Provide clear communication and alerts related to system disruptions, outages, and downtime. Ensure that planned disruptions align to the business schedule and rhythm.
Establish and ensure methods, practices, and tools are in place to maintain the compliance and security of all business systems.
Serve as a technical and analytical thought leader for the future state of MITRE's business systems ecosystem; recommend changes as appropriate aligned to mission, work, cost, and business objectives.
Oversee business systems changes, enhancements, and/or implementations, integrating disparate priorities across business needs, user experience, security, compliance, and cost:
Ensure system requirements are developed, maintained, and continuously reviewed. Maintain awareness and knowledge of stakeholder, government agency/sponsor, security, privacy, and compliance requirements.
Drive technical integrations, identify and mitigate risks, and ensure adherence to schedules, plans, and objectives.
Ensure effective go-lives for all updates and enhancements, including decision governance, stakeholder effects, and completion of all necessary or planned testing.
Deliver agreed-upon priorities within the planned budgetary envelope.
Ensure operational excellence practices are implemented and adhered to across the organization.
Partner closely with Finance and Enterprise change management and business communications leadership to continuously drive adoption of tools, integrate user feedback into enhancements, and mitigate risk.
Ensure a broad set of stakeholder priorities and inputs are evaluated, assessed, and integrated into ongoing plans.
Architect and lead the development of new metrics and analytical products to advance business operations.
Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum of 15 years of related experience
Bachelor's degree in a related field
Progressive management experience including direct leadership and development over large, high performing staff teams
Experience with and knowledge of government contracting
Experience driving the development, operations, and maintenance of critical business systems (such as accounting, timekeeping, project staffing, financial planning, travel and expense, contract management, and/or opportunity management).
Experience leading complex, multi-faceted business systems implementations, including end to end integration across multiple systems
Demonstrated experience assessing user-focused change impacts, managing stakeholder communications, and supporting digital adoption, training, and use of business systems
High level of poise, tact, and diplomacy in working closely, often under time pressure, with highly sensitive information, with a diverse group of executives, customers, managers, and staff
Demonstrated successful development of internal partnerships, alliances, and impactful project teams
Demonstrated capacity to successfully manage subcontractors, vendors, and consultants to achieve milestones within budget parameters
Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, including creation of plans, reports, and briefing decks.
Demonstrated capacity to assemble and present executive-level briefings that synthesize complex data and make actionable recommendations to executive leadership.
This position requires a minimum of 4 days a week on-site
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree in software engineering, systems engineering, finance, accounting, or business administration
Professional experience in finance and/or business operations
Understanding of the federally funded research and development center landscape, structure, and model

$220,500 - $275,500 - $330,500 Annual
