Summary This Registered Nurse - Reusable Medical Device Program Manager/Coordinator position is located within the Sterile Processing Service Line of the VA Boston Healthcare System, located at the West Roxbury location. The position is full-time at 40 hours per week. Responsibilities Duties include, but are not limited to: Leads the SOP Review group and manages the creation and review of standard operating procedures (SOP) on the cleaning and disinfection of critical and semi-critical RMD based on the manufacturer's instructions for use (IFU). Monitors quality assurance in the pre-treatment / pre-cleaning and reprocessing of all semi-critical and critical RME/RMD Ensures national sterile processing standards are followed for all semi and critical RME/RMD; Coordinates with hospital staff on RME/RMD to ensure compliance with all national and local directives; Participates in managing patient safety alerts and recalls on all critical and semi critical RME/RMD in collaboration with SPS leadership and Patient Safety; Coordinates and leads all RME/RMD Inspections and reports monthly to SPS leadership, RME Board and VISN 1 SPS Lead; Monitors quality assurance for flexible scope documentation via scope audit and reports to SPS leadership and RME board monthly; OR - Liaison Duties; Acts as a point of contact for all vendor activities associated with surgical services. Maintains documentation of related files within the SPS; Collaborates with operating room staff, Prosthetics Service and Logistics Service to assure all replacement of biological and non-biological implants is appropriate; In collaboration with the operating room staff, Chief of SPS and Logistics Services, manages all special orders (instrument, equipment, etc.) for the operating room. Upon receipt of items, assures delivery to the appropriate department and personnel; Any other duties as assigned by SPS Leadership to support SPS operations. Qualifications Basic Requirements: English Language Proficiency. Graduate of a school of professional nursing approved by the appropriate accrediting agency and accredited by one of the following accrediting bodies at the time the program was completed by the applicant: The Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE); OR Individuals attending a master's level bridge program in nursing who have completed coursework equivalent to a bachelor's level degree in Nursing may have opportunity to become registered as a nurse with a state licensing board prior to completion of the bridge program. Upon achievement of a State license, the individual may be appointed on temporary basis and later converted to a permanent appointment upon successful completion and graduation from the bridge program. Credit for foreign nursing education higher that associate degree/entry level requires a formal degree equivalency validation from a recognized equivalency evaluation accepted by VA such as International Consultants of Delaware (ICD). Current, full, active, and unrestricted registration as a graduate professional nurse in a State, Territory or Commonwealth (i.e., Puerto Rico) of the United States, or the District of Columbia. Graduate Nurse Technician (GNT) Exception: Candidates who otherwise meet the basic education requirements, but do not possess the required licensure, may be appointed at the entry step of the grade and level applicable to the completed nursing education as a GNT on a 120-day temporary appointment while actively pursuing licensure (may be extended up to two years on a case-by-case-basis.) Preferred Experience: Experience with surgical instrumentation preferred. OR/SPS experience strongly preferred. Nurse II Demonstrates leadership in delivering and improving holistic care through collaborative strategies with others.
