Job Title: A&P Mechanic - Experimental Operations
Job Description
This role supports experimental flight test operations by configuring, inspecting, and maintaining aircraft to meet certification and experimental test requirements. The A&P Mechanic ensures aircraft are properly set up for each test activity, performs functional tests to confirm systems operate within design parameters, and troubleshoots mechanical issues to identify and correct non-conformities and defects. The position requires flexibility to work overtime and weekends to meet flight test schedules.
Responsibilities
Assist the experimental operations team in supporting flight test activities and daily operational needs.
Perform inspections on experimental aircraft in accordance with Engineering Technical Instructions.
Prepare experimental aircraft for flight by completing daily inspections, verifying all maintenance is complete, and ensuring aircraft readiness.
Tow, launch, and recover aircraft to and from the hangar by following established standard operating procedures.
Perform functional test procedures on the ground to verify system functionality and ensure flight safety before each test.
Carry out first-of-@type and proto@type mechanical installations and software-related tasks with guidance from engineering and written work instructions.
Follow job cards to remove and install line replaceable units (LRUs) and other aircraft components as required.
Troubleshoot mechanical systems to identify non-conformities, defects, and root causes of issues.
Perform heavy maintenance, repairs, and adjustments on aircraft systems to maintain airworthiness.
Collaborate closely with the experimental operations team to build a high-performing, safety-focused, and motivated work group.
Document work performed in accordance with applicable procedures and ensure compliance with all technical instructions and standards.
Support flight line operations, including pre-flight and post-flight inspections and servicing.
Essential Skills
Hands-on aircraft maintenance experience, including inspection and repair of mechanical systems.
Proficiency in troubleshooting aircraft mechanical systems to identify and correct defects and non-conformities.
Experience with heavy maintenance tasks on aircraft.
Flight line experience supporting pre-flight, post-flight, and turnaround activities.
Experience performing inspections in accordance with technical instructions and job cards.
Ability to follow Engineering Technical Instructions, work instructions, and standard operating procedures accurately.
Experience removing and installing line replaceable units (LRUs) and other aircraft components.
Background in tiltrotor or helicopter maintenance and operations.
Current A&P (Airframe and Powerplant) mechanic capability or equivalent practical experience working on aircraft.
High school diploma or equivalent education.
Ability and willingness to work overtime and weekends as required by flight test schedules.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Tiltrotor aircraft experience, including configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
Helicopter maintenance experience in a flight line or hangar environment.
Experience working with proto@type or first-of-@type installations in collaboration with engineering teams.
Familiarity with functional testing of aircraft systems on the ground prior to flight.
Comfort working in an experimental or flight test environment with evolving requirements.
Strong teamwork skills and the ability to contribute to a positive, high-performing team culture.

Work Environment
You work primarily in a hangar environment that is not climate controlled, so conditions may vary with the weather and season. The role is centered around active flight line and hangar operations, including towing, launching, and recovering aircraft, as well as performing inspections, maintenance, and functional testing on the aircraft. The schedule includes overtime and weekend work to support flight test demands and operational timelines. You operate around experimental and test aircraft, collaborating closely with engineering and operations personnel in a hands-on, mechanically focused setting.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Milton, FL.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $38.00/hr.
