Dr. Joseph Palamar is seeking hourly recruiters for his epidemiology studies examining self-reported drug use among nightclub and dance festival attendees. The studies are funded by the National Institute of Drug Abuse.The ideal candidates are committed, highly motivated individuals who can work effectively, independently, and in small teams. A bachelor's degree is preferred, and students enrolled at NYU are encouraged to apply. The candidates will serve as recruiters who will survey individuals about to enter nightclubs and electronic dance music (EDM) dance festivals typically late at night. Recruiters are also needed during daytime hours to survey students near college campuses. Nightclubs and colleges of focus will be in the New York tri-state area (including some cities in New Jersey and Connecticut) so candidates with access to a car are preferred although this is not required. In addition to administering surveys, recruiters will also try to obtain voluntary saliva samples from a subset of participants. Familiarity with the EDM scene is a plus. Outgoing individuals who are comfortable approaching and speaking to people they have never met strongly preferred. Recruiters will work in small groups to ensure safety.Job Responsibilities: Minimum Qualifications:To qualify you must have a Associate's degree plus one year related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Computer literate with good interpersonal, writing and verbal communication skills.Preferred Qualifications:Qualifications:Enrolled in a program focusing on public health, nursing, psychology, sociology Excellent English and oral communication skills Preferred Qualifications:Interest in the epidemiology of drug use Familiarity with EDM nightclub, rave and dance festival scenes strongly preferredSocially outgoing candidates preferredQualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.NYU Grossman School of Medicine provides its staff with far more than just a place to work.
