Job Summary

This position is responsible for product development and design and implementation of new products. This position will work in an electro-mechanical environment and will be central in the product design, part assembly and detailed part drawings. You will work on prototyping, testing, and assembling production-intent samples. In this position, you will be working with a cross functional team to ensure that all specifications are met in order to successfully release a product into production.
Key Responsibilities
Facilitate and collaborate with technology partners across the globe
Develop concepts and proto@types for new products
Attends team meetings using the product delivery system (stage gate product development) for each major product. Develop test plans for luminaire certification (UL/CSA), validation of new features, and interoperability of new components within the product
Integrate cutting edge controls technology into luminaires
Manage project timelines while interfacing with cross-functional team Manage Phase-In and Phase-Out (PIPO) on high volume product families
Travel to production facility to support Pilot and Pre-Production Assembly Runs Support Lean Activities and seeking continuous improvement
Submits test requests and interacts with the testing group as necessary. Submits prototyping requests and interacts with the model shop for the production of proto@types and assembly of samples. Reviews functional specifications, project charters and competitor's samples
Interacts with the manufacturing facilities to resolve part or assembly issues, deviation requests and bill of material errors
Able to be excel in a hybrid working environment, working a min 30%-50% of time in an office setting to meet project requirements
Minimum Requirements
Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, or a related discipline
Basic experience in project, timeline and budget management
Two years experience working in engineering in lighting, or related field, preferred Knowledge of engineering fundamentals
Basic understanding of electronics design, and wiring practices
Proficient use of 3D/2D CAD, MS Office, etc.
Understanding of Lean & Six Sigma methodology and practices such as standard work, time study, cause & effect, 5WHY analysis and other tools of DMAIC
Some understanding of manufacturing methods such as stamping, drawing, casting, extruding of metals and plastics
Ability to communicate verbally, in written form and through sketches, and engineering drawings.
Works well in cross- functional team environments
Demonstrated experience collaborating with cross functional team members
Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs
Travel Requirements
Ability to travel up to 20% of the time as needed
The range for this position is $66,500.00 to $119,700.00. Placement within this range may vary, depending on the applicant's experience and geographic location.
