Summary About the Position: This is a Military Technician position with the 88th Readiness Division, Equipment Concentration Site (ECS) 37 located in Ogden, Utah. This position requires an active membership as a Soldier in the Army Reserve before a start date can be set. Diagnose malfunctions. Make repairs to electrical equipment. Replace electrical items. Make final operational tests. Provide guidance on electrical equipment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Electronics Mechanic without more than normal supervision. To meet the screen out element, applicants should document experience or show the ability to do the following: conduct inspections of electronic equipment, use test equipment to diagnose malfunctions, troubleshoot to determine cause of malfunction, and complete repairs of electronic equipment using hand and power tools. Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision (Screen-out Element) Ability To Use Hand and Power Tools - Electronics Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, Repair, etc. Trouble shooting (Electronic Equipment) Physical Effort: Work requires frequent lifting or carrying items weighing up to 40 pounds, and occasionally items weighing over 50 pounds. Work requires frequent standing, walking, bending, crouching, reaching and stooping. Working Conditions: Work is usually done inside, well-lighted, heated and ventilated areas. Work outside is normally done in good weather; however, emergency situations sometimes require working under poor weather conditions. Exposed to the possibility of cuts, bruises, scrapes, and serious burns caused by electrical shock, RF energy and hot components. Education Additional Information Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. This position requires a 1 year probationary period during which the agency evaluates your fitness and whether your continued employment advances the public interest. In making this determination, the agency may consider your performance and conduct; agency needs and interests; whether your continued employment supports organizational or Government goals; and whether it promotes the efficiency of the Federal service. Continued employment requires written certification that it advances the public interest. Direct deposit of pay is required. This is a Logistics Career Field position. Selection is subject to restrictions resulting from Department of Defense referral system for displaced employees. New Army Reserve Military Technicians may be authorized moving expenses to their first official duty station. To be eligible to receive moving expenses, you must be a newly appointed Federal civilian employee or have a minimum of a 3-day break in service from previous Federal civilian employment. Recruitment, retention, and/or relocation incentive, advance in-hire rates, advanced leave accrual, and creditable service for leave accrual may be authorized when determined to be in the best interest of the government.
