Job Title: Civil Engineer (Professional Engineer)
Job Description
This position is for an experienced Civil Professional Engineer who will lead and oversee complex civil engineering projects involving roads and site development, grading, pavement, stormwater management, water distribution, and sanitary sewer collection systems. You will manage projects ranging from $2M to $250M across a diverse portfolio that includes public-sector work for federal, state, and municipal clients, as well as private commercial, industrial, and multifamily developments. The role combines hands-on design using AutoCAD Civil 3D with project management responsibilities, coordination with stakeholders, and preparation of technical reports.
Responsibilities
Lead the planning, design, and delivery of civil engineering projects focused on roads, site development, grading, pavement, stormwater, water distribution, and sanitary sewer collection systems.
Manage projects ranging from $2M to $250M in value, ensuring they are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget.
Perform and oversee site development design, including grading plans, drainage layouts, utility plans, and associated civil infrastructure.
Develop stormwater management designs and prepare comprehensive stormwater and drainage reports in compliance with applicable codes and standards.
Use AutoCAD and Civil 3D to produce, review, and refine engineering drawings, models, and construction documents.
Coordinate and execute civil engineering work for public sector clients, including federal agencies, state and municipal governments, and educational institutions.
Support transportation and civic infrastructure projects by providing civil and site engineering expertise.
Deliver civil and structural engineering support for private commercial developments, including office buildings, retail complexes, and industrial facilities.
Contribute to the design of private housing and multi-family developments, including senior and multi-family housing projects.
Collaborate on design-build partnerships with private developers for mixed-use and commercial projects.
Oversee day-to-day project management activities, including scheduling, resource allocation, progress tracking, and risk management.
Coordinate with internal teams, external consultants, contractors, and clients to resolve design issues and ensure alignment on project objectives.
Ensure all designs and deliverables meet relevant codes, standards, and client requirements, and align with best practices in civil engineering.
Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers and designers, supporting their professional growth and development.
Participate in professional development activities and leverage company-supported mentoring, training, and certification programs to maintain and enhance technical expertise.
Essential Skills
Approximately 10 years of experience in civil engineering design and project management focused on site development, grading, stormwater, and/or water distribution and sanitary sewer collection systems.
Licensing as a Civil Professional Engineer (PE) in the State of California.
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
Proficiency with AutoCAD and Civil 3D for civil design and documentation.
Experience preparing stormwater and drainage reports.
Strong background in land development and civil site design.
Proven project management experience on multi-million-dollar civil engineering projects.
Ability to lead projects and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills for preparing reports and interacting with clients and project teams.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Master's degree in Civil Engineering is preferred.
Experience with federal and Department of Defense (DoD) projects is preferred.
Experience with public sector projects in California is preferred.
Familiarity with transportation and civic infrastructure projects.
Experience working on commercial, industrial, and private housing or multi-family developments.
Ability to work effectively in a design-build project environment.
Interest in mentoring and supporting the development of junior staff.
Commitment to ongoing professional development, including participation in professional associations and pursuit of additional certifications.

This role is primarily office-based, with an expectation of working on-site 5 days per week initially. A hybrid work arrangement may be available and is typically discussed and considered after approximately three months in the role, based on performance and team needs. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $62.50 - $68.00/hr.
