Summary You will serve as COMMANDER ACTION GROUP in the FOURTH FLEET of COMDR US NAV FORCES SOUTHERN CMD. Responsibilities You will be the principal Advisor for the Commander on strategy and policy. You will plan and organize staff activities that result in recommending strategic policy that complies with legal and regulatory requirements and meets the needs of the Commander. You will perform analytical, and advisory duties to provide responsive, forward thinking, and insightful policy, executive agreement and naval forces posturing advice. You will analyze, interpret, disseminate and provide recommendations on National/Strategic Policy documents in order to ensure compliance with directives and instructions. You will lead for coordinating, advising, tracking, and maintaining component executive agreements in one consolidated database. You will coordinate the command's basing and posture of Naval Forces within the overall Global Defense Posture framework. You will execute daily operations and activities, set priorities of assignments and will be directly responsible for a wide range of command-wide tasks and support. You will interact with daily with flag officers and SES, including frequent presentations and discussions with the Commander, Deputy Commander, and Chief of Staff. You will plan, schedule, and coordinate staff work with other internal and external organization supervisors. You will identify need for changes in priorities and take action to implement such changes. You will balance workload and provides advice, guidance, and direction on a wide range of strategic and administrative issues. You will serve as principal editor, vetting speeches, policy papers, presentations, and testimonies on the operations before release. You will lead a cadre of senior military and civilian strategists and subject matter experts l in formulating and developing strategic documents and products. You will provide responsive interdisciplinary and analytical capability involving broad, complex issues of either one time or recurring nature. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-14 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience applying expert knowledge of Component command organization, function, authorities, relationships, policies, missions and strategies in order to effectively plan and execute U.S. Navy policy development process from the strategic environment assessment, through command strategy and strategic plans as well as developing resourcing naval forces basing and posture guidance for the area of responsibility. Experience applying extensive knowledge in the joint, combined, and interagency arenas is required to further U.S. Navy strategic development process and goals. Experience in joint and interagency application and processes. Experience applying expert communications skills including complete mastery of all commonly accepted writing and editing techniques and skill in applying those techniques in the preparation of strategic documents and briefs to senior U.S. and foreign officials. Experience justifying and defending strategic conclusions that relate to requirements and capabilities for naval forces to meet the challenges of the USSOUTHCOM operating environment.
