The Opportunity with Overcast
We are seeking a highly motivated and versatile individual to join our team as a Product and Manufacturing Engineer . This role will be instrumental in bridging the gap between product development and manufacturing processes, ensuring the seamless transition from design concept to production reality. The successful candidate will work at both our manufacturing facility as well as at a key, local contract manufacturer, taking ownership of proto@type development, product refinement, and manufacturing optimization. This position requires a proactive self-starter with a passion for hands-on prototyping and product refinement who can work independently in a manufacturing environment with a strong emphasis on sheet metal fabrication. Additional responsibilities include:
Leadership & Management
Key member of the engineering and manufacturing teams responsible for managing products through all product development lifecycles.
Implement a robust project management process and delivery methodology to keep projects on schedule and on budget.
Define project assignments for cross-disciplinary project team members to maximize resources and provide clarity of responsibilities and accountabilities.
Keep informed on changes within the industry and share with the organization.
Demonstrate a desire and potential to grow into a leadership role within the organization.
Contribute to the development of talent and knowledge within the organization.
Product Design and Optimization
Collaborate to refine and optimize product designs for manufacturing and assembly (DFMA).
Participate in design reviews and other engineering processes to ensure product quality and compliance with company standards.
Implement design improvements to enhance product performance, user experience, aesthetics, and cost-effectiveness.
Provide technical support related to product lines during all phases of product development from prototyping to production and beyond.
Create and maintain DriveWorks configurations, templates, and rules to automate design tasks within Solidworks.
Utilize, maintain, and continuously improve the company's Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) system to ensure data integrity.
Create and manage Bills of Materials (BOMs), Engineering Change Orders (ECOs), and product configurations in the PLM system.
Perform root cause analysis and develop corrective action plans as required.
Provide onsite engineering support at project sites as required.
Proto@type Development
Desire and ability to learn how to safely operate fabrication equipment.
Utilize sheet metal fabrication equipment to proto@type parts and assemblies.
Iterate designs based on proto@type testing and feedback.
Manufacturing Process Improvement
Work closely with our manufacturing team and contract manufacturers to optimize manufacturing processes for efficiency, quality, and scalability.
Identify opportunities for automation, process streamlining, and cost reduction.
Quality Assurance and Testing
Work with our Director of Operations to implement and refine quality control procedures to ensure that manufactured products meet rigorous quality standards and specifications.
Conduct thorough testing and analysis to identify and address any product defects or performance issues.
Assist with incoming inspection of parts and assemblies.
Cross-functional Collaboration
Collaborate with cross-functional teams across the organization including business development, sales engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, and quality assurance teams to drive alignment and achieve project objectives.
Travel to collaborate with engineering and business development teams located in Seattle.
Communicate effectively across teams to facilitate knowledge sharing and problem-solving.

What You Need to Succeed at Overcast
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. Advanced degree or relevant certifications preferred.
Three (3) to Five (5) years of experience in mechanical design, electrical design, engineering, or related field required. Experience working in a product manufacturing environment is required.
Demonstrated experience as a creative, innovative, and agile team player.
Hands-on experience with sheet metal fabrication equipment and processes.
Strong analytical skills and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail.
Proficiency in software for product design including Solidworks, Driveworks, Solidworks PDM, and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) databases.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams.

T he pay range for this position is $75,870 - $116,010 per year; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Base pay information is based on market location. A bonus may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
