Position Description
TheDepartment of Engineering Technology (https://www.txst.edu/technology.html) at Texas State University has one Faculty of Instruction vacancy at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor in the expanding Construction Science and Management ( CSM ) and Concrete Industry Management ( CIM ) programs.
We seek a dedicated educator with extensive experience in university-level instruction and professional practice to support our mission of delivering industry-aligned curriculum. The successful candidate will be expected to teach relevant undergraduate courses for students preparing for a career in the construction industry or related careers; work with student organizations and/or mentor student competition teams; travel with students to industry conferences locally, nationally, and internationally; develop and maintain relationships with construction industry companies; participate in membership in industry associations that represent the concrete and construction industries; and participate in service activities in support of the university, the department, and the profession.
Workload for Faculty of Instruction includes teaching, at a minimum, four CIM or CSM courses each semester depending on area of expertise and department needs and fulfilling service and advising obligations at a level that warrants the award of up to 3 credits each semester.
The preferred start date for this position is August 2026.
Required Qualifications
For all ranks:
Ph.D. in Construction Management, Construction Science, Construction Safety, or other closely related construction discipline.
An undergraduate degree in Construction Management from an ACCE or ABET accredited institution, or in Construction Engineering or Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited institution, or a closely related field from a similarly accredited institution.
Minimum of five years teaching experience in an undergraduate construction management program.
Demonstrates current and contemporary competence in their teaching content area.
Excellent oral and written English language skills.
For the rank of Professor of Instruction - Appointment to the rank of professor of instruction may be extended to individuals with the following additional qualifications:
At least 10 years of full-time effective and sustained teaching and learning contributions, including advances in curriculum, pedagogy, course delivery, or similar innovation.
Recognition of leadership and contributions in teaching and instructional activities (e.g., awards, accreditation reviews, curriculum innovation, program coordination, scholarly contributions).
Preferred Qualifications
Construction and/or concrete industry certifications (i.e. Certified Professional Constructor ( CPC ), Project Management Professional ( PMP ), Certified Construction Manager ( CCM ), NRMCA Plant Manager Certification, NPCA Master Precaster, ASCC Concrete Formwork Specialist, or related)
U.S.-based industry experience in construction project management, engineering project management, or public works.
Construction industry training experience as an instructor.
Knowledge and/or teaching abilities in two or more of the following areas:
Construction Safety, Construction Estimating, Construction Equipment, Construction Scheduling, Construction Surveying, Construction Surveying, Construction Technology
