Description
The Global Rapid Asset Deployment (RAD) Operations (GRO) team, as part of Operations Technology Solutions (OTS) Supply Chain (SC), is seeking an operational strategist to lead a global initiative for an internal client. This is an innovative position and the face of OTS-SC to the customer that requires cooperation with IT engineering, operations engineering, quality engineering, operations, security, safety, customer solutions, planning and scheduling, procurement, and other supply chain functions that will implement or improve automation, configuration, and testing of operational improvements within each of the RAD facilities globally. The position will identify and address areas of improvement through observing metric trends and pleasing the customer across changing needs and priorities.
The Principal, Supply Chain will report to the Director of GRO as an individual contributor that works alongside Regional Operations, Global Operations Engineering, Global Program Management, and Global Transportation & Logistics. The principal will support each team under GRO through operational strategic planning, execution, and support, with the main focus on managing a specific internal customer. The principal must build relationships with the internal Amazon client to evangelize RAD's capabilities as a technology supplier and grow the business from within. They must be able to drive strategic initiatives but also commit to getting the job done.
Working in a fast-paced environment with a high-level of ambiguity will require this leader to make quick and effective decisions, mix long-term strategy with short-term solutions, and drive efficiencies across a global network with a mix of cultures. Leading with limited guidance, this leader will collaborate with teams in various geographical locations. This leader will need to drive initiatives using effective writing (following Amazon writing culture), budgeting (through the OP1 and OP2 process), negotiating and influencing, evangelizing the Leadership Principles, and managing complex situations. Maturity, strong business judgment, ability to influence cross-functional and remote teams, a customer-centric and creative mindset and strong analytical skills are essential. This opportunity requires excellent program management, prioritization, and communication skills, as well as the ability to navigate ambiguity.
Key job responsibilities
Lead enterprise-level strategic planning and execution for the customer's global supply chain operations, optimizing RAD capabilities to ensure business continuity across the network. Develop and implement scalable solutions that anticipate customer requirements and position RAD as the preferred technology fulfillment partner.
Drive cross-functional initiatives spanning Engineering, Operations, Finance, Quality, Procurement, and Logistics to deliver operational improvements. Synthesize complex operational data into executive narratives that inform strategic decision-making and resource allocation through OP1 and OP2 planning cycles.
Own the customer relationship as single-threaded leader, building trust through consistent delivery and transparent communication. Translate customer infrastructure requirements into actionable supply chain solutions while balancing delivery timelines against inventory positioning and network capacity constraints.
Analyze program performance metrics including delivery speed, inventory optimization, cost-per-unit trends, and service level achievement. Identify improvement opportunities through metric analysis and implement corrective actions to maintain operational excellence standards.
Manage high-profile stakeholder meetings and present strategic initiatives to senior leadership. Compile and report on project metrics, ensuring alignment across global teams operating in diverse cultural environments.
Travel up to 30% for site visits, customer meetings, and team summits.
A day in the life
This role begins with analyzing program performance metrics critical to AWS operations; ensuring that the customer receives the right item, at the right time, and in the right condition. The Principal continuously evaluates opportunities to innovate on behalf of the customer while improving response times and identifying value delivery opportunities.
Strategic planning sessions with AWS leadership require translating their growth requirements into innovative and scalable supply chain solutions. The role demands building trust as the single-threaded partner, anticipating requirements, and positioning RAD capabilities to address emerging challenges.
Afternoons involve driving cross-functional initiatives with Engineering on automation roadmaps, Finance on cost optimization models, and Operations on execution network capacity planning. The Principal synthesizes complex data into executive narratives that inform decision-making.
Customer obsession defines this position. Every initiative centers on the customer requirements and exceeding expectations. The Principal owns the AWS partnership and program outcomes, maintaining transparency, accountability, and relentless focus on customer success.

Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree
10+ years of supply chain experience
7+ years of working cross functionally with tech and non-tech teams experience
7+ years of program or project management experience
7+ years of working cross functionally across several teams experience
Experience defining program requirements and using data and metrics to determine improvements
Preferred Qualifications
Experience owning program strategy and end to end delivery
Experience delivering projects within scope, time, budget and quality
Experience managing, analyzing and communicating results to senior leadership

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
