Job Title: Electrical Design Engineer
Job Description
An industrial engineering consulting firm is rapidly growing and seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to provide critical design support for active and upcoming heavy industrial and agricultural projects. This role suits someone who can quickly step in, work independently, and make an immediate impact while collaborating with a distributed engineering team. Responsibilities
Provide electrical design support for heavy industrial and agricultural facilities, supporting projects from initial concept through construction.
Design and develop industrial electrical systems, including power distribution, grounding, lighting, instrumentation, and motor controls.
Produce, review, and modify electrical drawings, schematics, and layouts using AutoCAD, ensuring accuracy and constructability.
Utilize Revit to support electrical design and coordination within multidiscipline models, where applicable.
Support the development of P&IDs, equipment schedules, and system documentation to ensure complete and coordinated design packages.
Collaborate closely with internal engineering teams and external customers in a consulting-style environment to understand requirements and deliver effective solutions.
Participate in technical design reviews to help ensure compliance with applicable codes, NEC, and general industrial electrical standards.
Support multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced consulting environment, managing priorities and deadlines effectively.
Contribute to projects that support critical infrastructure across agriculture, energy, and material processing industries.
Assist with or review studies using tools such as SKM or ETAP for arc flash and coordination analyses when needed.
Communicate design concepts and project status clearly to project stakeholders, both verbally and in writing.
Operate effectively in a client-facing role, providing professional and responsive support to customers throughout the project lifecycle.
Essential Skills
Experience in heavy industrial electrical design, such as agriculture, ethanol, power distribution, material handling, processing facilities, or rail/shipping terminals.
Strong understanding of industrial electrical systems, including power distribution, instrumentation, grounding, lighting, and voltage systems.
Proficiency with AutoCAD for creating and modifying electrical drawings, schematics, and layouts.
Ability to work directly with customers and operate confidently in a consulting, client-facing role.
Capability to support projects from concept through construction, including documentation and coordination.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced consulting environment.
Comfort working remotely and independently while collaborating with a distributed engineering team.
Clear written and verbal communication skills for effective collaboration with internal teams and external clients.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Revit experience for electrical design and coordination within multidiscipline models is preferred.
Knowledge of NEC and general industrial electrical standards is preferred.
Experience with SKM, ETAP, arc flash, or coordination studies is a plus but not required.
Senior Electrical Design Engineers: 4-year degree in electrical engineering or a related field is preferred.
Experienced Electrical Designers / Drafters: 2-year technical degree or equivalent relevant experience is welcomed.
Familiarity with IEEE standards and industrial electrical engineering best practices is beneficial.
Background in consulting or engineering services environments is an advantage.

You will work within a tight-knit team of approximately 5-10 electrical engineers at various levels of experience in a small, fast-growing consulting firm founded in 2022. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $80.00/hr.
