Data Scientist

Location: Columbus, Ohio (Onsite)

Employment Type: Contract to Perm

Role Overview

We are seeking a motivated Machine Learning professional to support data-driven initiatives through model development, experimentation, and analysis. This role is ideal for someone early in their machine learning career who is eager to work hands-on with real-world data and production ML environments. You will use a consultative approach with business segments to uncover opportunities for consumer experience optimization and customer value delivery.

Key Responsibilities

Develop, test, and maintain machine learning models to support business and analytical use cases.

Work with structured and unstructured datasets to perform data preprocessing, feature engineering, and exploratory analysis.

Collaborate with data, engineering, and analytics teams to translate requirements into ML solutions.

Evaluate model performance and iterate on improvements using established metrics.

Assist with deploying and maintaining models within existing machine learning environments.

Document workflows, assumptions, and results for technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Required Qualifications

Education: A Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Decision Sciences, Statistics, Operations Research, Applied Mathematics, Engineering, or a related STEM field is required. In lieu of a Master's degree, a Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 3 years of work experience in analytics or data science is acceptable.

Experience: At least 1 year of hands-on experience is required in machine learning environments, such as model development, experimentation, ML pipelines, notebooks, or deployment frameworks through academic, internship, or professional work.

Technical Skills: Programming experience in either Python or R is required.

Preferred Qualifications

Familiarity with common ML libraries (e.g., scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch, caret, tidymodels).

Experience with data visualization and analysis tools.

Exposure to cloud platforms (e.g., AWS Sagemaker) or data platforms.

Knowledge of predictive modeling methodology and statistical methods.

Experience with both structured and unstructured data sources.

Foundational knowledge of building and deploying predictive models, web scraping, and scalable data pipelines.

A background in financial services is considered a plus.
