Hanford Tank Waste Operations & Closure (H2C) delivers exceptional performance in safely removing, treating, and disposing of tank waste. H2C leads the nation's largest and most complex radioactive waste cleanup, including closure of the legacy waste tanks at Hanford containing 56 million gallons of radioactive and chemical waste.

We are seeking a highly experienced Manager of Construction to provide leadership and oversight for field construction activities supporting DOE O 413.3B Capital Asset and Tank Farm Infrastructure Construction Projects. The Manager of Construction will apply extensive and diversified knowledge of construction management principles, DOE-regulated work execution, and multidisciplinary field integration. This role ensures safe, compliant, and efficient construction work performance across multiple active project fronts.
This position reports directly to the H2C Director of Projects and is responsible for leading construction management, coordinating work package readiness, integrating engineering and operations, and ensuring performance expectations are met in a complex, high-hazard environment.
The specific duties of the Manager of Construction will include but are not limited to the following:
*Lead day-to-day construction execution across Construction Projects and Tank Farm work scopes.
*Lead the Construction Department ensuring work is executed safely and in compliance with DOE, H2C standards, environmental, QA, and industrial safety requirements.
*Oversee construction work execution development, constructability review, hazard analysis, and readiness.
*Coordinate with Engineering, Operations, Work Planning, Radiological Control, IH, and Project Management to ensure integrated execution.
*Drive schedule performance, resource planning, and forecasting for construction activities.
*Resolve emergent field issues, design clarifications, and conflicts through effective leadership and decision-making.
*Participate in readiness reviews, IQRPE support activities, walkdowns, and project coordination meetings.
*Mentor and develop construction managers, supervisors and field staff.
*Support reporting for cost and schedule performance metrics.
*Promote continuous improvement in construction execution, work planning quality, and field integration.
*Comply with H2C policies and procedures.
*Ensure ISMS Principles are incorporated into organization's activities.
*Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Grade 23:
Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in Construction Management, Project Management or Engineering, or related field; and
Fourteen (14) years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
*Demonstrated experience leading construction teams in a DOE, nuclear, or regulated environment.
*Strong working knowledge of construction work controls, hazard analysis, permitting, and readiness.
*Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams in complex, high-hazard field environments.
*Effective communication, leadership, and decision-making skills.
Grade 24:
Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in Construction Management, Project Management or Engineering, or related field; and
Fifteen (15) years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
*Demonstrated experience leading construction teams in a DOE, nuclear, or regulated environment.
*Strong working knowledge of construction work controls, hazard analysis, permitting, and readiness.
*Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams in complex, high-hazard field environments.
*Effective communication, leadership, and decision-making skills.
Note the essential duties for this grade level are like that of the previous grade level, however the scope of responsibility is larger, and the expected level of performance is increased.
Desired Qualifications
*Experience executing DOE O 413.3B-aligned projects.
*Background in design, construction, operation, and maintenance of nuclear/hazardous waste facilities.
*Prior oversight of large, multi-discipline technical teams including craft labor.
*Strong ability to manage emergent work and integrate changes into schedule and field execution.
*PMP or equivalent professional certification.
Compensation & Benefits
In accordance with the company's philosophy on compensation for exempt and salaried non-exempt employees, H2C takes into consideration a variety of factors when determining initial grade and salary to include assigned job scope and responsibility, a candidate's qualifications as compared to internal comparators performing in a similar role, and the external labor market. A salary offer will be made at the appropriate grade level and within the targeted hiring range posted according to these factors. Note a candidate's prior salary history will not be taken into consideration.
Hiring Range Minimum: $187,338
Hiring Range Maximum: $283,550
