The Vocational Rehabilitation Technician, Senior provides essential support to Workforce Development Unit (WDU) Counselors at State Services for the Blind (SSB). Under general supervision, this position assists customers who are blind, have low vision, or are DeafBlind in implementing their vocational rehabilitation plans. Responsibilities include supporting the referral and intake process, communicating with customers and vendors, assisting with service implementation under the Individualized Plan for Employment (IPE), coordinating and authorizing services and equipment purchases, providing basic low vision and technology instruction, supporting job search activities, and maintaining accurate case documentation.
The role requires strong organizational skills, professional communication, problem-solving, and the ability to work independently while supporting counselors and customers across diverse needs
This position requires some monthly local and statewide travel to meet in-person client needs.
This position is telework (https://mn.gov/mmb-stat/policies/1422-telework.pdf) eligible. Staff are provided with the tools and equipment to be successful in a virtual work environment. Please note, the telework policy could change with notice based on business needs.
Minimum Qualifications

Skill in math sufficient to calculate totals, averages, and percentages of numbers and/or data.
Skill in accounting sufficient to review, analyze and verify financial records, calculate monthly fees, and prepare financial summaries and reports.
Knowledge of standard computer software programs for word processing, spreadsheets, and databases sufficient to create, modify, and protect files.
Skill in data entry sufficient to read source documents and enter data in specific databases or tracking systems.
Skill in customer service sufficient to perform the duties with politeness, respect, and interest in positive problem solving.
Knowledge of communications sufficient to communicate effectively with internal and external customers.
Preferred Qualifications
State of Minnesota authority for local purchasing (ALP) certification.
Knowledge of rehabilitation concepts, vocational guidance, or disability-related services, sufficient to support intake, eligibility preparation, and service implementation.
Experience working with individuals who are blind, have low vision, or are DeadBlind, including awareness of accommodations, alternative techniques, or assistive technology.
Experience working with vendors, including ordering goods or services, processing invoices, or coordinating service delivery.
Experience with Workforce One (WF1), Statewide Integrated Financial Tools System (SWIFT) or other financial/procurement systems.

Additional Requirements
This position requires an Adjustment to Blindness immersion training program. The immersion experience helps new employees understand what's possible for people who are blind, DeafBlind or visually impaired by allowing them to experience it for themselves. The training takes place at an Adjustment to Blindness training center and can run up to 6-7 weeks.
