Toyon Research Corporation is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join our Advanced Concepts flight test team within the Aerospace Systems Group. The ideal candidate will have a solid foundation in electrical engineering principles with the ability to take ideas from concept through design, build, test, and delivery. This role is focused on proto@type mixed-signal embedded hardware and offers the opportunity to contribute across all phases of product development in a highly collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

Perform system analysis, develop architectures, and create detailed electrical designs of advanced avionics and aerospace systems

Design and build mixed-signal and embedded system circuits and custom PCBAs

Drive hardware development from initial concept through fabrication, integration, and delivery

Troubleshoot and resolve complex or unusual engineering challenges under tight timelines

Collaborate across disciplines on multi-project teams

Prepare and present technical material for design reviews

Work effectively under evolving requirements in a fast-paced prototyping environment

Requirements

Bachelor's or advanced degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline

Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in electrical engineering design and development

Experience designing, assembling, and troubleshooting circuits and PCBAs

Proficiency with EE CAD and simulation tools (Altium, OrCAD, KiCad, SPICE, etc.)

Familiarity with scripting or analysis tools (Python + SciPy, MATLAB, etc.)

Strong understanding of general EE principles including:

o Analog and digital circuit design

o Power distribution and regulation

o Signal integrity, grounding, and EMI/EMC mitigation

o Component selection, derating, and tolerance analysis

o Electrical safety standards (UL, CE, IPC, MIL-STD)

o ESD handling and design practices

Knowledge of design documentation and version control best practices (schematics, BOMs, revision control)

Ability to interpret and apply industry standards and specifications (IPC-2221/610, MIL-STD-461, DO-160, etc.)

Strong communication skills and ability to thrive in a collaborative, interdisciplinary setting

The annual pay range for the Electrical Engineer position is $115,000 to $200,000.

The posted pay range values provide the candidate with guidance on annual base compensation for the position, at a full time level of effort, exclusive of overtime, bonus, and benefits-related compensation, over a range of qualifications that may fit hiring objectives. Toyon Research Corporation will consider the individual candidate's education, work experience, applicable knowledge, skills and training, among other factors, when preparing an offer of employment.
