Cost Accountant

Description We are looking for a skilled Cost Accountant to join our team in Staunton, Virginia. This position plays a vital role in overseeing financial processes, particularly within manufacturing cost accounting and inventory management. The ideal candidate will have a strong grasp of accounting principles and a proven ability to manage complex financial operations across multiple sites.

Responsibilities:

Manage and maintain the general ledger, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.

Oversee manufacturing cost structures and provide detailed cost analysis to support operational decisions.

Perform inventory accounting and reconcile discrepancies to ensure accurate reporting.

Execute month-end close processes, including preparing journal entries and financial statements.

Collaborate with operations and finance teams to align cost accounting practices with organizational goals.

Conduct standard cost accounting and evaluate variances to improve efficiency.

Provide detailed account reconciliations and resolve any inconsistencies promptly.

Assist in preparing reports for audits and ensure compliance with all regulatory standards.

Analyze financial data to identify trends and opportunities for cost savings.

Support multiple manufacturing sites by coordinating and implementing consistent accounting practices. Requirements - Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

Proven experience in cost accounting within a manufacturing environment.

Strong knowledge of standard cost accounting practices and inventory management.

Proficiency in financial reporting and general ledger management.

Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data.

Familiarity with accounting software and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.

Exceptional attention to detail and organizational abilities.

Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively across teams and sites.
