The Community Notification Coordinator provides coordination and direction for notification activities in compliance with statute, policy, and procedures regarding the Community Notification Act (244.052) both within and outside of the Department of Corrections (DOC). This position will develop a system to track compliance of DOC and county correctional agencies (Community Corrections and Counties) in coordination with local law enforcement agencies statewide. This position will be the point of contact for questions of compliance with all related questions within the Community Notification Act regarding issues of broad public notification to include public information sharing through documents and website postings. This position will also assist local law enforcement agencies in delivery of private and public information through public meetings and trainings. This position will ensure that the public right to know as detailed in the Community Notification Act is fulfilled in partnership with state and local units of government primarily focused on law enforcement agencies and correctional supervision agencies.
This position is subject to the State of MN's telework policy requiring employees living within 50 miles of DOC's Central Office location in St. Paul to work on-site 50% of the time. Completion of a telework agreement is required. Teleworking employees are required to live in Minnesota or a bordering state in a county along the Minnesota state line.
Minimum Qualifications
To be qualified for and considered for this position, applicants must meet all of the minimum qualifications listed below. Ensure that your resume contains descriptions of your work experience sufficient for comparison against the requirements stated below and indicate the beginning and ending month and year for each job held.
Three (3) years of experience in one of the following areas:
Supervision of those with a history of sex offending;
Investigation of sex crimes; or
Providing treatment in a treatment program focused on issues of sexual offending.
Note: A Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Corrections, Psychology, Sociology, Social Work, or related field may substitute for one (1) year of experience. A Master's degree in Criminal Justice, Corrections, Psychology, Sociology, Social Work, or related field may substitute for one-and-a-half (1.5) years of experience.
Applicants that meet the experience requirements listed above will be further assessed on the following:
Human relations skills sufficient to respond to requests from law enforcement agencies, other client agencies, and the public.
Skill in public speaking sufficient to present controversial subjects in large meetings.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, especially Access and Excel, sufficient to develop reports and information on status of community notification issues.
Preferred Qualifications
The following qualifications are strongly desired of applicants seeking consideration for this position :
A Bachelor's degree or higher in Criminal Justice, Corrections, Psychology, Sociology, Social Work, or related field.
Knowledge of the Community Notification Act, policies regarding effective management, supervision, and treatment of those who have sexually offended, and/or related community supervision theory and practice especially regarding Intensive Supervision.
Knowledge of research methods and results regarding sexual offending.
Experience serving on an End of Confinement Review Committee.
Experience developing data collection and tracking systems.

Additional Requirements
The selection process may include screening the top candidate(s) on their criminal history, predatory offender registration, offender associations and/or other applicable background information in accordance with Department of Corrections' policy. Top candidate(s) must pass a criminal history check which includes successful completion of all sentencing and/or restitution requirements of law enforcement jurisdictions, including probation.
Employment history/reference checks, including incidents of sexual harassment, will also be conducted on the top candidate(s) in accordance with Department of Corrections' policy. This may include a review of job performance and discipline records.
New employees will be fingerprinted within the first 30 days of employment.
