Located off Park Avenue in Midtown East, The Barclay features 702 beautifully-designed guestrooms with 30 suites, an opulent Presidential Suite and Penthouse Sky Suite with 1,500 feet of outdoor space and Chrysler Building views. The hotel boasts 15,000 square feet of meeting space and two large ballrooms for New York's most memorable weddings, benefits, and galas. The Barclay offers a Club InterContinental®. It's Parlour bar and lounge with light dining is a dynamic social hub in the hotel's expansive lobby. The "new" Barclay embraces the hotel's distinctive legacy, while modernizing every detail.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead the hotel's marketing team strategy by integrating sales and marketing plans to achieve budget targets and align with strategic business priorities. Oversee the execution of all marketing initiatives, digital presence, PR, and social media activity while maintaining IHG brand integrity. Serve as the hotel's brand guardian, partner closely with Revenue Management, Sales, and Events teams, and coach and develop marketing team members to drive performance and support professional growth.
MARKETING STRATEGY & PLANNING
Oversee the overall marketing team strategy, integrating sales and marketing plans to achieve hotel budget targets while aligning with strategic business priorities.
Oversee execution of all marketing team initiatives, projects, and collateral production to verify that sales and marketing objectives are achieved and revenue opportunities are maximized.
Serve as the hotel's brand guardian and liaison, verifying all marketing reflects brand voice; lead the strategic pull-through of continent and brand promotions and campaigns.
Oversee analysis of marketing reports, using insights to guide team strategic pivots and optimize sales results.
Manage the development of core marketing assets - including photoshoots - to ensure content is accurate, current, and available for use across all sites and channels.
Assist in developing and implementing the annual sales and marketing plan; participate in the budgeting and forecasting process.
REVENUE & DIGITAL MARKETING
Partner with Revenue Management to develop and execute promotional strategy efforts that drive topline revenue and optimize channel performance.
Oversee OTA, Wholesale, and IHG Boost strategy alongside the Revenue Management team, utilizing monthly market leader insights and media investment to drive growth and maximize channel performance.
Track and analyze SEO performance metrics, identify optimization opportunities, and work cross-functionally with the IHG Digital Team to drive continuous improvements in search ranking and digital presence.
Supports group, events, and transient lead generation efforts through market-focused promotions.
PR, SOCIAL MEDIA & COMMUNICATIONS
Oversee management of PR and Social Media agencies; set the overarching Public Relations and Social Media strategy for the hotel, outlining goals, pitch angles, and target audience segments.
Consistently collaborate with the IHG Field Marketing Team, sharing recommendations and actionable next steps based on identified findings, best practices, and emerging digital trends.
Effectively measure and clearly communicate the success of campaigns and digital performance by leveraging relevant reporting tools, translating data into clear insights, and presenting actionable recommendations to stakeholders.
Articulate campaign performance regularly to the Director of Marketing, Director of Sales & Marketing, and General Manager.
TEAM LEADERSHIP & SALES ENABLEMENT
Coach and mentor team members to drive performance, support professional development, and foster career growth; conduct periodic check-ins to monitor progress, provide guidance, and promote continuous learning.
Lead collaboration with internal teams and external partners to successfully execute deliverables that drive hotel strategy objectives.
Provide the sales team with the tools, promotions, presentations, and resources needed for tradeshows, sales calls, and overall sales efforts.
Demonstrate strong relationship management and negotiation skills; build, develop, and sustain effective partnerships with key stakeholders including the General Manager, Director of Sales & Marketing, Sales and Revenue leaders, regional marketing teams, and media representatives.
Perform other duties as assigned.
ACCOUNTABILITY
This is a non-exempt marketing management position responsible for leading the hotel's marketing team strategy and overseeing all marketing, PR, digital, and social media execution in support of hotel revenue and brand objectives. The Marketing Manager works in close partnership with the Director of Marketing, Revenue Management, and Sales leadership to drive topline performance and maintain brand standards. The annual salary range is commensurate with experience. The salary range for this position is $43 - $48 per hour.
REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Hospitality, or a related field, plus a minimum of three years of progressive hotel or hospitality marketing experience including digital marketing, PR, and social media management. Prior luxury or full-service hotel experience preferred. Must speak fluent English. Other languages preferred.
This job requires ability to perform the following:
Frequently standing up or moving within and outside of the facility.
Carrying or lifting items weighing up to 25 pounds.
Handling objects.
Additional requirements:
Communication skills are utilized a significant amount of time when interacting with others; demonstrated ability to interact with leadership, media representatives, agency partners, and internal teams that reflects highly on the hotel, the brand and the Company.
Reading and writing abilities are utilized extensively for marketing copy, campaign briefs, management reports, and strategic planning documents.
Mathematical skills, including budgeting, ROI analysis, profit/loss concepts, percentages, and variances, are utilized frequently.
Proficiency in digital marketing platforms, content management systems, and analytics tools; familiarity with OTA platforms and IHG systems preferred.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret campaign performance data and translate findings into actionable marketing strategy.
Proven ability to build, develop, and sustain effective partnerships with key stakeholders including General Manager, Sales and Revenue leaders, regional marketing teams, and media representatives.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously under competing deadlines while maintaining high quality of output.
Problem solving, reasoning, motivating, organizational and training abilities are used often.
Ability to travel to attend workshops, trade shows, PR events, and marketing functions.
May require a valid Driver's License.
May be required to work nights, weekends and/or holidays.
