Summary:
The Regional Marketing and Communications Manager leverages a mix of marketing tools and local market knowledge to develop, implement and execute a regional marketing plan that amplifies Huntington's brand locally and maximizes opportunities within the region. Utilizes strategic thinking, local market knowledge and community relationships to drive Huntington's business effectiveness, optimize Huntington's profile, and develop and deepen strategic community partnerships that create cross-segment business/engagement opportunities through sponsorships, events, and local market engagement. Creates and sustains strategic partnerships in the community, positioning and supporting key members of the Regional Leadership Team in influential community positions. Engages with internal partners, community partners, local businesses, community leaders, and external partners to locally deliver the brand in relevant and distinctive ways.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Strategic Planning & Execution and Brand Localization
Conduct and maintain a Market Analysis to inform strategy, including regional demographics, economic trends, competitive landscape, brand positioning, and local decisioning of opportunities.
Develop and execute a strategic regional marketing plan(s) that promotes and protects the brand within the region via sponsorships, events, community and colleague engagement, ensuring it is visible, relevant and meaningful in the local market; that aligns with corporate branding and compliance guidelines; and that optimizes resources, maximizes ROI, supports regional business goals, and captures a leadership platform in the community.
Lead local sponsorship strategy, including identification, negotiation, activation, and management of tickets, tables, and suites.
Manage local branding and advertising opportunities to enhance visibility and awareness.
Position the organization as a regional thought leader by securing media and speaking opportunities for regional and national leadership.
Respond to changing market conditions, regional needs, and corporate directives with creative, strategic solutions.
Local Communications
Develop compelling internal and external communications, including leadership messaging, colleague updates, social media, talking points, etc.
Identify media opportunities and speaking engagements for Regional and Corporate leadership in partnership with Corporate/Regional Communications
Collaborate with internal teams to ensure consistency and compliance of messaging.
Budget & Marketing Resource Management
Manage regional marketing budgets with oversight from Regional President, ensuring efficient, impactful investments while serving as a strong fiscal steward.
Oversee purchase, distribution and use of branded materials and promotional assets.
Leadership & Team Development
Serve as the region's marketing lead and primary point of contact, representing marketing on the Regional Leadership Team.
Maintain awareness of all marketing efforts in the region and help protect the brand, ensuring it is well-represented and in compliance with brand guidelines.
Serve as an advocate for and represent Regional Marketing in cross-functional teams.
May help onboard new Regional Marketing Managers and function as "mentor" through the first year.
May manage a team of marketing professionals, providing guidance and support and fostering collaboration and professional development.
May serve in community leadership role(s).
May engage with regional/market Advisory Board.
Stakeholder Collaboration & Engagement
Partner with regional leaders, corporate teams, and community organizations to align marketing efforts with business objectives.
Collaborate with corporate marketing to ensure brand consistency and leverage national initiatives.
Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Community & Colleague Engagement
Support colleague engagement through regional communications and volunteer initiatives.
Represent the organization in community events, sponsorships, and volunteer initiatives.
Cultivate strong relationships with community organizations and other partners.
Collaborate with the community development relationship manager to ensure alignment with Community Plan and market goals.
Corporate Program Support
May support corporate-driven programs (e.g., Ignite the Classroom, Economic Outlook events, branch openings).
Performs other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree
5+ years' marketing, communications, or community relations experience
Preferred Qualifications:
Strong understanding of marketing principles and strategies.
Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and adapt to a fast-paced environment.
Proven success in managing events, sponsorships, and community engagement.
Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills.
Ability to analyze data and make strategic decisions.
Strong negotiation skills.
Strong organizational and project management skills.
Knowledge of the local market and competitive landscape.
Sponsorship activation
Leadership experience (e.g., within a team, community)
Community engagement and volunteerism
Ability to travel 1) within the assigned region for events, meetings, and community outreach, including possible evening/weekend events; and 2) outside the region for Regional Marketing or Consumer and Regional Bank (CRB) meetings
Experience in banking or financial services is highly preferred.
