Our ideal Senior Systems/Network Engineer has 5+ years' experience architecting and managing network infrastructure, with a focus on network segmentation and automation workflows. We are looking for a forward-thinking engineer to install, configure, and automate network devices and management tools. You will perform advanced administration of Cisco hardware/software while executing modern security practices to isolate workloads and reduce attack surfaces.

HOW A SYSTEMS/NETWORK ENGINEER WILL MAKE AN IMPACT
Provide Network Engineering and Operations & Maintenance (O&M) on a proprietary network and related infrastructure devices.
Provides and applies advanced engineering to highly complex infrastructures including installing, configuring, testing and maintaining network devices, operating systems, and system management tools.
Performs maintenance and provides advanced solutions for continual and highly complex security, backup and redundancy problems.
Prepares and maintains documentation for processes and procedures.
Maintains current knowledge of rapidly changing technology, on the lookout for new technologies, and works with management to evolve current processes.
May coach and review the work of less-experienced professionals.
Invents innovative ways to drive operational efficiency.
Drives scalability and operability of supported systems/infrastructure.
Provides system/equipment/specialized training and technical guidance.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED:
Education: Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Engineering, or other IT-related discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training, or work experience.
Required Experience: 5+ years
Technical skills:
Experience with Cisco networking devices (firewalls, routers, switches).
Experience with cloud networking concepts and implementation.
Familiarity or ability to learn network automation tools and scripting (e.g., Python, Ansible, or Terraform) to streamline configuration and deployment.
Experience with network storage concepts and technologies.
Well versed with common Virtualization technologies such as VMware.
Forward-thinking mindset with the ability to transition manual processes into automated, repeatable workflows.
Analyzes complex information and independently takes appropriate actions to resolve problems before they impact production.
Continually guides network/system development through the assessment of system engineering management plans and modern integration/test plans.
Develops technical documentation, architectures, and network design documentation.
Validates the technical integrity of work performed, ensuring configurations meet baseline security and automation standards.
Excellent communication skills; shows tact, effective listening skills and follow through.
Designs and delivers proactive, future-proof solutions.
Monitors usage statistics and logs to proactively recommend future projects to management.
Thorough understanding of network concepts, LAN design, network segmentation, and IP addressing
Firmware and network operating system patching and upgrades
Domain Name Systems (DNS)
Network Attached Storage (NAS)
VMWare installation and configuration (vSphere / ESXi)
Virtual LANs (VLANs)
Security clearance: TS/SCI with Polygraph

The likely salary range for this position is $136,000 - $184,000. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
