Summary You will serve as an Education Program Administrator in the Brig prisoner Adult Basic Education (ABE) program of NAVAL CONSOLIDATED BRIG MIRAMAR. Responsibilities You will prepare Adult Basic Education (ABE) programs in accordance with NAVCONBRIG program policies and procedures. You will maintain attendance records and all other administrative reports required by Navy and civil policy and procedures. You will develop complete curriculum products for multiple subject areas, research lesson materials, and write lesson plans in accordance with the Department of Education and Department of Navy standards. You will deliver classroom instruction using instructional techniques that are effective for a prisoner population. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Developing curriculum for adult basic education courses based on developmental needs; 2) Instructing prisoners on basic education and life skills while adapting or revising courses to address various subject-matter requirements or student problems; and 3) Applying group discussion techniques and instructional techniques to motivate and teach individuals from various social skill levels and educational backgrounds. In lieu of specialized experience, applicants may substitute education in the following amounts, or combine education and experience to meet the requirements: 3 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree; or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree.
