Summary This position is being recruited under 10 USC 1599f into the Cyber Excepted Service and does NOT convey eligibility to be converted to the Competitive Service. It has been identified as a position necessary to carry out and support the mission of the US Cyber Command. It is in the Professional Work Category at the Full Performance Work Level within the CES Occupational Structure. It is located in the DISA DISA - FE/IT Services Division. Responsibilities Configures, maintains, and troubleshoots telecommunications equipment such as routers, switches, copper and fiber modems, hardware and software firewalls, Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) phone services, and communications servers. Directly responsible for the modernization, operation, maintenance, and defense of Defense Information Systems Agency organizational networks, by testing, deploying, maintaining, administering, and implementing infrastructure hardware and software. Provides technical advice to leadership to ensure compatibility with the architecture of other Defense agencies at all levels of classification measuring effectiveness of defense-in-depth architecture against known vulnerabilities. Troubleshoots and interprets various parameters such as bit error rate, packet loss, timing or framing problems, bandwidth utilization, and other indicators used to measure network activity. Performs assessments of network systems within the network enclaves and identifies where those networks deviate from acceptable configurations, enclave policy, or local policy in order to protect against malware and perform damage assessments. To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience that demonstrates the competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Experience refers to any paid or unpaid experience, including volunteer work and Military service, that would be considered equivalent to work normally performed at the next lower grade level in the federal service. For this position, qualifying experience is defined as: Experience with network administration and Local Area Network (LAN) / Wide Area Network (WAN) or troubleshooting various pieces of telecommunications equipment such as routers, switches, copper or Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) phone services; as well as experience investigating, analyzing, or responding to cyber incidents within the network environment including multiple network enclaves. Salary range includes a Targeted Local Market Supplement (TLMS) in accordance with Section 1599f of Title 10 U.S.C. and Department of Defense Instruction (DoDI) 1400.25, Volume 3006. A three year trial period may be required if you have not previously completed a trial or probationary period in the excepted or competitive service. Accepting this position, you may be required to serve a 3 year probationary period during which we will evaluate your fitness and whether your continued employment advances the public interest.
