What you'll do...
Walmart is seeking a Software Engineer III to contribute to the design, development, and delivery of scalable software solutions. This role involves analyzing requirements, coding with adherence to standards, and implementing automated testing and telemetry features. The successful candidate will collaborate across teams to ensure high-quality, secure, and maintainable applications while supporting continuous integration and deployment processes. About the team:
Our team develops and maintains the technology ecosystem supporting associate and patient experiences across Walmart and Sam's Club Vision Centers. We deliver scalable software solutions for optical retail, optometry services, manufacturing, fulfillment, and digital commerce. Our work includes in-store applications managing patient and prescription data, backend systems for manufacturing and supplier integration, and consumer-facing web and mobile platforms. By integrating with enterprise systems, we enable seamless workflows across intake, payment, and fulfillment. Operating at the intersection of retail, healthcare, and technology, our team creates mission-critical solutions impacting millions daily.
What you'll do:
Design, develop, and maintain backend services using Java and Spring Boot
Build and enhance microservices and RESTful APIs in a cloud-native environment
Implement real-time data streaming solutions and integrate with Azure-based databases
Develop secure authentication and authorization mechanisms to protect sensitive data
Optimize application performance and troubleshoot production issues
Create and maintain database schemas, ensuring data integrity and efficient queries
Contribute to automated testing using TDD practices and support CI/CD pipelines
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable, reliable, end-to-end solutions
What you'll bring:
Strong proficiency in Java and Spring Boot for developing microservices and RESTful APIs
Experience working with real-time messaging systems such as Kafka
Hands-on experience with Azure services including CosmosDB, Azure SQL, and Blob Storage
Solid understanding of secure application development, authentication, and data encryption practices
Experience with JUnit/Mock frameworks and Test-Driven Development (TDD)
Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins), and Git-based source control
Working knowledge of Linux environments and Agile tools such as Jira
Strong problem-solving skills and effective written and verbal communication abilities

The annual salary range for this position is $90,000.00 - $180,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include :
