Chart Industries is looking for a Manufacturing Engineer Manager to join the Hudson Air Cooler manufacturing engineering department. The role will support Chart's Air Cooled Heat Exchanger operation by applying Lean Manufacturing principles and Continuous Improvement to existing production processes to realize continuous process improvement. Primary areas include header welding, fin-tube manufacturing, tube bundle assembly, painting and final assembly.
What Will You Do?
The Manufacturing Engineer Manager will support the Production departments within the Chart business in the following activities:
Process improvement:
Utilize Lean concepts to develop and implement improvements in manufacturing processes and organize kaizen events
Perform time studies in processes to provide necessary information for Lean projects
Define and measure current process cycle times and suggest improvements to meet standards.
Provide documentation for throughput improvement in pant and product flow optimization
Implement cycle time improvements for manufacturing processes
Capacity planning for current and future states for strategic capitals equipment investments
Identify opportunities for increasing efficiency of the plant, reduce waste and non-value added activities
Projects:
Suggest new manufacturing equipment to reduce cycle time including welding equipment, material handling equipment
Assist in cost justifications for capital equipment and support for approval
Execute detailed purchase orders when buying capital equipment and maintain costs during execution of projects
Interface with outside manufacturers or contractors and perform cost comparisons and evaluation
Coordinate with Maintenance, machine shop personnel, and utility vendors for the commissioning of new machinery
Work with Engineering Department in development of weld automation
Manufacturing support:
Assist the Operations Manager with developing annual budgets, cost savings, documenting Lean initiatives
Work with Purchasing/Procurement to qualify vendors and finalize bids with guidance as needed
Update and develop manufacturing standard procedures for Operations Departments to follow
Train staff on improved processes/new equipment implementation
Develop and supervise periodic maintenance program for reduction of downtime due to machine breakdown
Establish Kanban system of production bill of material items
Establish Kanban system of consumable supplies
Safety:
Mandate safety with contractors, supervisors, and plant personnel during project implementation
Train and supervise contractors for PPE and ensure safe practices while performing contractual safety requirements

Your Experience Should Be...
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Education:
Bachelor Degree in Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering preferred
Minimum Experience:
5 +years of Industrial Manufacturing experience and/or internship preferred
Skills required (i.e. certifications, licenses, registrations, etc.):
Industrial manufacturing experience strongly preferred
Strong technical/mechanical aptitude
Proficient with AutoCAD
Proficient with Lean manufacturing principles
Educational experience with application of Lean methodology in manufacturing environment
Proficient with all programs within Microsoft Office
Organizational & Time Management skills
Able to lead and direct a team of Manufacturing engineers.
MUST BE ABLE TO DO THE FOLLOWING:
Work safely around equipment, tools, parts, machinery and material
May require possible travel, domestic and internationally, up to 10% per year
Strong communication skills to facilitate interaction with internal colleagues, external suppliers, vendors and customers
Strong mechanical aptitude preferred
Strong organization skills to document, track, and manage job related information
