Underwriter (Contract-to-Hire) - On-Site in Tulsa or OKC

Compensation: $80,000 per year

A client is seeking an experienced Mortgage Underwriter for an on-site, contract-to-hire position based in either Tulsa or Oklahoma City. This role requires a strong command of mortgage guidelines, the ability to manage a pipeline of 50-60 loans per month, and a commitment to staying current with all regulatory requirements.

Secondary employment is not permitted.

Responsibilities

Underwrite loan files from origination through closing with accuracy and efficiency.

Review and verify credit, income, asset, collateral, and appraisal documentation.

Ensure loan files meet all current federal, state, investor, and agency guidelines.

Clearly communicate conditions, decisions, and findings to processors and loan officers.

Collaborate with the loan team to resolve issues and maintain smooth workflow.

Stay up-to-date with mortgage regulations, requirements, and industry changes.

Qualifications

Minimum 3 years' experience underwriting Conventional, FHA (DE), and VA (SAR) loans.

Experience with HUD 184 and USDA loans is a plus.

Strong proficiency with Desktop Underwriter (DU) and Loan Prospector (LP).

Familiarity with GUS preferred.

Experience with Encompass software preferred.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.

High attention to detail, accuracy, and organization.

Positive, team-oriented attitude.

Underwriting certifications preferred but not required.
