The HR Intern provides administrative and project support to the Human Resources department while gaining hands-on experience in HR operations within a construction environment.

The key job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Assist with filing and maintaining employment records related to hiring, termination, leaves, transfers, or promotions using human resources management systems

Support onboarding efforts by preparing new hire paperwork, coordinating DocuSign documents, and assisting with orientation logistics

Help coordinate pre-employment requirements such as background checks and drug testing

Assist in maintaining and updating HR documents, trackers, and internal systems (e.g., CMiC)

Support employee engagement initiatives, events, and HR communications

Attend and participate in recruitment events such as college visits and career fairs, as needed

Provide general administrative support to the HR team

Maintain confidentiality of sensitive employee information

Field employee questions as appropriate and escalate when needed

Assist with special projects, including policy updates, reporting, and training materials

All other duties, tasks and/or projects as assigned

Participation and completion in scheduled and applicable safety training, as determined by the company.

Required Skills and Abilities:

Ability to effectively communicate Knutson's purpose, people-focused culture, and values

Excellent oral/written communication and interpersonal skills

Skilled in computer and systems, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), and internet-based tools & systems

Strong customer service and ability to interact with employees at all levels throughout the company.

Self-starter with excellent time management, multi-tasking, and organizational skills.

Strong work ethic and sense of integrity, and trustworthiness.

Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.

Creative in brainstorming and proposing new ideas and solutions.

Minimum Education and/or Experience Requirements:

Currently pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field

Previous internship or administrative experience is a plus, but not required
